I chose this service based on tripadvisor reviews and it didn't disappoint. I planned it so I chose the Sunset Grand Canyon tour because what better time to experience the Grand Canyon than under a waning sun. It's a long trip to and from the Canyon but there's a lot to see and learn. Our guide, Alfonso, is an encyclopedia. Seriously. He started giving facts from the time we left our hotel. I don't know how a man can do that, but he did and I enjoyed every bit of it. Our tour also included a trip to the Hoover Dam and Seligman, AZ all in the comfort of an air conditioned 11 passenger van (though there were only 9 passengers in total that day making it a very comfortable ride).
Alfonso is amazing. I told him he should write a memoir as it seems he has lived quite the full life (studied in bellingham, WA; Chicoutimi, PQ, CA; and Paris, France at the very least). he is also fluent in French and, I believe, Spanish. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard him speaking with a French tourist in Seligman. He must've also at least dabbled in photography as he knows his way around a camera. He has a very good sense of how to frame a shot and how to properly expose it. It was obvious to me that he has the eye and creativity for those kinds of things. He was a gracious host and made me, my girlfriend, and all the other guests feel at ease.
Anyways, I highly suggest this tour if you wish to see the Grand Canyon. You're afforded a much better view compared to the helicopter rides which take you to the less impressive parts of the Grand Canyon. On that note, Alfonso also said that only 20% of the Grand Canyon is considered a natural wonder and it is this 20% which the helicopter tours DO NOT go to. So yes, do consider the tours from Grand Adventures if you want your Grand Canyon experience to be a worthwhile one.
