This is going to a long review so please bear with me ..
My wife and I spent 2 nights at the platinum during this thanksgiving weekend after reading all the rave reviews on tripadvisor, We had booked a princess suite strip view and called multiple times ahead o make sure that they give us a strip view suite. Some lady called ‘Jamie’ (?) even told me that she has blocked a room for me and that it cannot be given to anyone else so I shouldn't worry. Guess what…when we got there we were told that there are no strip view suites available so we will get a mountain-view room at a high floor and that tomorrow we could possibly be moved to a strip view suite (We stayed 2 nights). The hotel manager ‘Eugene’ came out and assured us of this apologetically. We were too tired to argue more and just took the keys and walked to our room.
Now onto the room itself…when we walked into our room we found at least 2 dead bugs lying on the carpet in the living room, the carpet itself was terribly filthy ( checkout the attached pic ), Also the whole room was very dusty. We called up the housekeeping and after 10 mins the housekeeping supervisor came up to look at the room, again very apologetically he told us that he will get it cleaned immediately and will make up for the inconvenience. 5 mins later a cleaning lady showed up who vacuumed and dusted the whole room along with the kitchen and brought us pots and pans as we asked. More than an hour went by for all this to happen.
The suite was quite big and spacious with a full kitchen but that’s where the positives end.
Later at night when we got back to our room we found a bottle of champagne (typical $8 store champagne) and 4 big chocolate covered strawberries in our room. A nice little gesture I say but hardly anything for the amount of inconvenience but anyways ..
So we went to the bed and found the comforter to be extremely filthy with brown stains all over, you can’t see it unless you take off the bed sheets hiding the filth, so at 1 in the night we called to get another blanket, which was brought to us quickly and was clean (sigh..)..
Next day in the evening I asked the Manager (Eugene) about the strip facing suite and he told me that he has one for me and got us moved. Now comes more trouble….the new suite has strong stench to it, though it seemed cleaner than the last room. Even the guy who moved our luggage recognized it immediately and told us he will ask housekeeping to come up and deodorize the room. So the housekeeping came up again in 10 minutes and sprayed the super strong deodorizer that helped the stench a bit but it was still quite prominent, next came the maintenance guy (without us asking for it) to check the drains. He mentioned that the kitchen sink drain seems to be the problem and put some chemical in it to help the drain ease up. He also checked the bathroom drain in the shower. I again talked to Eugene the manager who once again very apologetically asked us if we would like to move to another room again and that he wasn't aware of cleaning issues with our other room.
Being very tired we decided to not move again ..so he offered to send us a free night voucher if we want to come visit Vegas again, said he will mail us a voucher if we left our home address at the front desk, which I did the next day while checkout, So whether he sends us the free night voucher or not remains to be seen.
Next morning we woke up around 11 because of the unbearable stench, imagine yourself sitting inside a gutter, that's how strong it was and we could hear some strange noise coming from the kitchen sink as if someone was working on the drain in the room below. Since we had to checkout anyways, we hurriedly just checked out out of the place than bothering to complain again. Also the bedsheet was torn from multiple places..
Apart from all the negative above, I think this place has a lot of potential for a peaceful crowd with no smoke, the people seem quite nice and responsive and there is not much trouble in getting to/from the strip if one doesn’t mind spending 10-12$ for a cab ride.
Will I stay here again? Well..that remains to be seen if they send us the voucher..
