“Convenient Sanctuary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

I chose to stay at the Platinum Hotel and Spa after reading several reviews here and also after having not so good experience elsewhere in Vegas last year. This time I was visiting for work and i wanted to be walking distance to where there was a conference and still have good quality. Below are my notes / observations on the hotel. Overall I was pleasantly surprised. I stayed on 16th floor in a standard king suite. (all rooms are suites)
1) The carpet looks new so you can disregard prior reviews about gross carpet. I do yoga so I can say for sure that the carpet is either new or very very clean.
2) The room / kitchen/bath were all very very clean - no evidence of prior guests etc.
3) The suite is very very spacious I did not expect so much space. wow. The tub is huge and lots of closet and drawer space / tables - space to spread out. Nice separate sitting area. Nice balcony.
4) Kitchen nicely equipped. Just bring food.
5) two t.v's one in bedroom and one in sitting area.
6) Location is about a 7 minute walk to the strip - you just walk up Flamingo and you hit the strip just behind Cesears and Bally's.
7) Lounge has happy hour between 4 and 7pm - nice price on drinks / food. I had artichoke dip and it was good.
8) Staff very pleasant. There was always always a doorman / valet present.
9) Free wifi. The first night the wifi kept dropping but the other 3 nights there were no issues.
10) Bathroom seems remodeled - nice large mirrors, frameless glass shower door. Deep tub.
11) Bed was very comfy and a/c was not loud. Very quiet floor.

Negative issues (very minor):
1) Valet parking only -so if you have friends coming to spend time w/ you at the lounge then they have to do valet parking. Valet parking is free and based on tips only but still annoying they can't just have some visitor parking.
2) Construction nearby is eyesore but that is temporary thing.
3) Although they provide free coffee in the room kitchens w/ the coffee machine -there is no tea and I am big tea drinker and most hotels offer tea. That was disappointing. also the creamer was dried creamer and not the little creamer containers. That was a bummer because that is a standard elsewhere.

I would stay here again. Is nice and quiet and smoke free. There is NO casino in this hotel and to me that was a blessing. I could walk to the casinos - shopping, shows etc. and then leave all the noise excitement and come back to sanctuary and quiet.

The price was similar to other places nearby and I felt the value was way better. I had friends staying at nearby hotel /casino and they paid similar prices and received far less. The Platinum is a steal!.

Thank you for the very detailed review. I'm glad you agree that we are a "steal" when looking at our value compared to others. We do have some structural challenges regarding how the hotel was built and why we do valet parking only. I do apologize about the construction. If you come back reach out to me. I will ensure we have plenty of the non-dry creamer waiting for you in your fridge. Thanks again for all the positive comments. We hope we see you soon.

Stayed here after a recommendation from family and the Platinum didn't disappoint. We paid a few dollars extra for an upgrade to have a washer and dryer in the room which is a great bonus when on an extended trip.
The staff were professional and helpful, decor very nice, pool area (although we didn't have time to use it) looked great. The hotel overall we considered very quiet.
The 10 minute walk to the strip was ok and even later at night there was a reasonable amount of foot traffic which lessened our concerns about personal safety.
Getting a taxi from the hotel which we did several times, can be a bit hit and miss. We found it easiest to walk to the Westin across the road where there always seemed to be taxis lined up.
We thought the suite to be very good value, room service breakfast was value & enjoyable, no on site casino a bonus and we would stay again.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the strip at night is worthwhile

Thank you for the great review. I would agree the few extra bucks it costs to upgrade to a Princess Suite is worth it. Especially if you are here for more than a couple of days. Please thank your friends/family for recommending us. We hope we get to see you again should you make the trip again.

Las Vegas has some of the best hotels and rooms in the world. Based on contributors reviews you have this ranked as #6 out of 271 Las Vegas properties. I would put this somewhere in the top 100, but certainly not the top 10. Don't get me wrong, this is a very nice hotel, but has its share of faults. Upon our arrival the room safe was not working. We had security come up to take a look at it and were told that we could use the vault at the front desk. Informing him that we were here for four days, and that solution would be too incovenient we were offered another room. Later during that stay, we had issues with the shower head, leaked all over (and was replaced), and the TV (audio popped and there was no sound). In each instance our problems were addressed and fixed promptly. The suite rooms are spacious, and the sleep quality of the beds were ok. We checked out the fitness room hoping to work out. Other than a few treadmills and a nautilus machine, there was nothing worth going for. The pool area looked much nicer in its pictures than it actually was. The pool is small and the lounges were not very inviting with stained and worn cushions. Despite 90 degree temperatures we could not get ourselves to use the pool.

As stated in other reviews, the hotel is two blocks off of the strip and about a 10 minute walk to Ballys. While that does not sound like far, the area off of the strip gets "seedy" quickly. Each walk to and from the hotel found us passing numerous vagrants and homeless people. They also seem to hang out at the Seven-Eleven store located in front of the hotel. While we were not approached by them, it creates a very uneasy feeling.

The staff at the hotel are pleasant and helpful and the room was cleaned promptly each day.

While this hotel certainly is a good value, we would not return here on our next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the strip. Otherwise you are likely to get a room overlooking the electrical p...

Thank you for your review. I do apologize for the inconveniences you encountered. We have ordered new pool cushions due to guest feedback like yours. We cleaned these cushions on a regular basis, however they are just past their life cycle. We should have all new ones in a couple weeks if not less. Thank you for letting us know the specific maintenance concerns. We will look to get these corrected as soon as possible. If you change your mind and would consider giving us another chance, please ask for me. I would like to personally get involved to help ensure a better experience.

This was our second time to stay at the Platinum Hotel. Love the short walks to the large rooms. More room than the two of us needed but having the extra space was great. The two block walk to the strip was easy with the upper 80 temps we had during our stay. If you want a massive room with a silent hallway, no smoke, and no gaming on site, this is the place. Awsome staff and pretty good Happy Hour in the Lounge.

Room Tip: Ask for stripp view.

The Platinum exceeded our expectations. Our room was incredibly spacious, great facilities including a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area with balcony, in addition to a large bathroom and king size bedroom. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food available was good. A no smoking hotel that is great for a couple or a family - amazing value.

We appreciate your kind words and comments. You are right it is great for families, but reasonably priced for a couple to experience a romantic getaway too. Thanks and we hope to see you soon!

The Platinum is like everything in Vegas, big! 15 mins walk to the strip or you can get on at Bally's monorail stop, to go up and down the strip. We wanted a smoke free, gambling free hotel and the Platinum delivered. We were upgraded to the Princess suite as soon as we arrived. So it was a nice start to our stay. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. The lounge is nice to stretch out on and there is a double person spa in the huge bathroom. The kitchen had everything if you want to self cater. The fridge had a crushed and cubed ice maker, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer with all necessary powders supplied. It really was a nice area to spend time away from the madness of the strip. The staff were very attentive and supplied everything we needed. A great place to stay and by Australians standards are good price. $145 a night.

We stayed 3 nights on the recommendation of friends. They were not wrong. This is a great hotel.

Personally I dislike the big gambling hotels because on entering the doors you still have a 10 minute walk thru the smoke to get to your elevator. Not here! We found walking to the Strip from the hotel not an issue at all for our afternoon exploring.

Service was above and beyond. When taxi's were not immediately available to take us to dinner or shows, the valet's would take us in the hotel car to our destination.

On departing, I dropped my credit card in the reception area. The hotel staff found it and made arrangements to drive it to me at the airport!!! I had it back by the time I had checked our luggage in.

Our room was incredibly quiet. Not once did we hear another soul in the hallways or the next room.

Room service was quick and delicious. We did take in happy hour for drinks and appetizers in the hotel bar on our first night and were pleased with the service/food.

We will be sure to stay again.

Thank you for reviewing us on Tripadvisor. I am very glad our staff were able to take care of you and you enjoyed your stay with us. It sounds like the valet staff was able to assist with some transportation needs as well. Although our house car isn't always available, I'm glad they got you taken care of. We look forward to your next visit.
