“Better than I expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Stayed at the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa for the first time while attending a business conference. It was better than I expected. Not enough desk clerks on duty so check-in was slow. After that, a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. South Point is far from the strip ($30 taxi fare including tip) but if you're visiting primarily for business, it's more than fine. Public areas are bright, pleasantly decorated and not quite as loud as most hotels/casinos in Vegas. Ceilings seem higher and lighting seem a little brighter giving the lobby and gaming areas a more open and airy feel. It's not Mandalay Bay or Caesars and it's clear the owners and management aren't targeting the same clientele. South Point is more middle-of-the-road. As a result, it's much more affordable while not quite as extravagant. The rooms are spacious, new, tastefully decorated and appropriately equipped. I'm not sure of the square footage in each room, but my suite at a conference rate of $72 per night was exceptionally large and functional. Everything needed for a successful business meeting is on the property including several good (not outstanding) restaurants. And, unlike many of the typical locations on the strip, no need to walk 20 minutes to get to the conference center, meetings or restaurants. Staff were available, attentive and very professional. I highly recommend South Point for a business trip.

We are frequent visitors to Vegas and the rooms at this casino were excellent value for money,(although take into consideration that a daily resort fee is being charged from 1st March 2013)The rooms were spotless, clean and comfortable with free coffee maker and safe. The only downside for us was the smoky casino which meant we went elsewhere to gamble, although the buffet restaurant which opened onto it was free from smoke. If you are staying here you probably like a bargain so buy the American Casino Guide from amazon for free offers on shows and food ( just take photo ID to join the slot clubs for comps) as well as a guide to playing the games. Coupons are accepted all over vegas you will find some in the free magazine in your room and everybody uses them (more money for gambling that way!) If you have a hire car and its not too hot visit redrock canyon (30 to 40 minutes away)a beautiful nature reserve its 7 dollars per car and you can hike over several trails from easy (around an hour) to challenging (about3 hours) or just drive the 13 mile scenic route and take photos at viewing opportunities. A great change from the hustle and bustle of the strip.

Room Tip: As the hotel was only built in 2005 I cant imagine there would be any problems with the rooms.

This property was the final 2 nights of a 7 day stay in Vegas. I stayed here 11 months ago.
South Point is a friendly comfortable well maintained property. I just love it here. I hoped my daughter would feel the same.....and she did. the rooms (although not as great as Mandalay Bay where we had moved on from) were well appointed, comfortable and clean.
The promotion we had booked on was a great deal..however the 4 free cocktails were very disappointing as the bars don't have a cocktail menu and the bartenders not overly qualified in suggesting or making cocktails !! But that is a very minor complaint.
The pool, hot tub and surrounding area are immacculate and a great space for relaxing in for an hour or two. I used the Spa and really enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and the wonderful massage with Anita (hope I remembered her name correctly). The wonderful young lady who gives you your robe and locker key is a real gem and I hope she is appreciated by the Hotel and Spa, seldom have I met such a charming and helpful member of staff any where in the world.
We ate in Steak and Shake, and the buffet and both were excellent.
The free shuttle back to the airport was on time and very good.We caught the strip shuttle from Mangalay Bay to South Point which was $8.
Last time I reviewed this Hotel I was disappointed there was no Horse show on, this time there was and it was free and we really enjoyed watching for an hour then going to the Western Shop.
Thankyou South Point, just counting the months until we can visit again.

Room Tip: Get as high as possible

Casino, restaurants, entertainment all in one place. Well out of the way of traffic and just a quick cab ride away from the airport. Stay on the 26th floor for a well appointed suite complete with full dining, living and kitchen areas plus huge bedrooms/bathrooms for what you may pay for a small hotel room at one of the more commercial hotels further up the strip. Found this place to be quiet and clean. Ate at the oyster bar and for a Gulf Coast girl I can say the food made me feel right at home.

Room Tip: Stay on the 26th floor if you want room for several people or a family.

So, this is not the first time I have stayed at the South Point.
When I do stay, it's usually for a week or more and due in part to the activities there at that property and because of traffic to get back up to the center of Vegas, I just hang my hat there.
And that works. The pros: Fantastic people that are always friendly and wanting to help. Good layout, clean, open with several dining options. You can take in all the sporting events in comfortable surroundings and make business deals in the same location while the rest of your party is rolling the dice. Rooms are pretty nice. Beds and pillows do not get my comfy cozy rating because I think it is obvious they don't want u to b resting away in the room. But clean with spacious bathroom. The bowling alley and movies keep the kids and grandparents occupied while you are in business, shuttles to downtown to shop for the wife and then all back together later for some good Mexican Food. Cons: For the fact it's a casino the food can be a bit pricey sometimes but I flip it that they provide good club perks and various times when it's a better deal to eat. They also have over sized parking for the big rigs and maybe even more important they have parking for pick up trucks. And I haven't even mentioned the event center and all the entertainment they have going on back there. All in all, I think if you plan ahead you can get a really good price for a room, especially during the week for about $50 or less which would be a great value. Even if you pay more, it is still going to be a good value considering how pricey the nicer parts of Vegas are getting. I definitely recommend.

Room Tip: If you don't want to walk a long ways down the hall, ask ahead of time if you are close to the e...

The hotel was pretty well located outside heavy traffic but just short 5 min shuttle trip to the strip area. You just need several nite to see the whole tourist attraction. Need to be fit to walk a lot. Once you finish with the extravaganza you must drive o neart by Grand Canyon Park and visit the near by attractions. If you suffer lung disease this is NOT a place to visit. Tobacco odor is always present in the hotels.

Room Tip: Look for upper floor rooms with view to The Strip

When we arrived, I requested a quiet room. When it took 10 mins to get to our room I thought that I was going to have a restful night. What a disappointment! At 2:30 a.m. I finally had to call security, as the noise level in the next room was unbearable. Trying to cope with only 3 hours sleep is not much fun. During check out I mentioned the issues we experienced to the gentlemen. His apology wasn't very sincere. I'm not very pleased, and will never stay or recommend South Point to anyone.
