“Welcome in the Year of the Dragon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

We went to the Emperor’s Garden to celebrate a birthday, which happens to be during the Chinese New Year’s period. They had lion dancers, but unfortunately for us, not on the night we were there. Among the dishes we ordered were the hot & sour soup, combo chow mein, combo fried rice, three kingdom beef, Kung Pao Three Delicacies (with pine nuts rather than peanuts), and sweet & sour pork. It was all very good, and though it seemed like a lot of food for five, it was almost all eaten. There was just enough for one lunch to take home. They were serving a large party in another room, but there were a lot of open tables in the main dining room, but it seemed they hadn’t geared up for the larger parties because our service was very slow. The waiter even forgot to bring one of the dishes we ordered. Fortunately, we weren’t in a hurry and very much enjoyed all of the dishes that were served. Dinner was about $14/pp.

“Good Food Bad Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2010

If you like Szechuan, go here! I love Szechuan chicken and picked this place b/c they have a szechuan menu. The regular szechuan chicken was good, and the special spicy szechuan with its own section on the menu was deadly spicy and equally good. Their hot and sour soup is also good (it is very thick and chunky). One person in our party like their shrimp noodle bowl. Someone else ordered mushroom chicken and thought it was so so.

Our waitor could be best described as completely indifferent. He literally sat at the table and behind us and ate and drank his own food while we were eating. We had to turn around and waive at him if we needed anything. No prompt refills or responsive service whatsoever. It was 4:00 in the afternoon, which I assume is a dead time.

“Criminal! But the food IS good!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2010

We've been there a couple times and the proprietress went out of her way to discuss (off the Chinese Menu, which is different from the English/Chinese Menu) vegan dishes and such with my wife and daughter.

They didn't remember my daughter, who doesn't look very Chinese, the next time she came in with a friend. She speaks some Cantonese, Mandarin, and Szechuan and heard some Chinese customers arguing that they'd been overcharged. So she and her girlfriend were prepared when they too were overcharged. And as she'd only spoken English she caught them talking about this criminal activity. The staff was concerned about getting caught with such a small bill and only two at the table. Clearly it is done ALL the time as a regular practice.

We will never go again.

“Very Nice Chinese!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2008

Had a very nice meal at the Emperors Garden. The service was very quick as there were not too many people in. Food was lovely. Proper authentic chinese food!! We were paying on average $230 per meal on the strip for a party of five but here was sooo cheap. Had loads of food and beers and the bill came to $80. We couldnt believe it. So much cheaper than eating on the strip!!
