“Nice property but some issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We stayed at the Grandview the first week in October. The property and the units were very nice and the split 1 bedroom units work very well. The entire staff was pleasant and helpful except for the lady at the excursion desk. The main issues that I had problems with are: 1) Checking in should be complete at one station. To be sent to another station to get a parking pass ( in other words to try and get you to take a timeshare presentation) is absurd. 2) To have to pay additional cost to use the room safe is tacky especially since I have already paid for the room in my exchange fees. 3) The thing that made me the most irate is the wifi fees. To charge $49.95 for a week of wifi is just simply a RIPOFF. Since the service provider was advertising on TV that you could get wifi for a year for the same price. I realize that in a resort town you are going to pay a premium for services but to be ripped off is unacceptable. This policy needs to be stopped especially for RCI owners. They paid for the orginal timeshare, paid the exchange fee, paid the annual RCI membership fees and then being asked to pay for additional individual property services is simply absurd. Then people wonder why timeshares have such a bad reputation.

Thank you for your review. We’re thankful that overall you enjoyed your stay but are sorry that you were disappointed with our amenity fees. We understand that travelers expect services comparable to what they find at home, but with the technology of hotspots, unlimited data plans, etc. we find many of our guests do not place in-room internet service as a priority amenity. Therefore the resort strives to be frugal with our timeshare owner’s association fees and charges for the convenience of wifi in the private rooms. Like many businesses we offer complimentary internet service in a public area of the resort for our guests. We’re pleased that we were able to overall provide a positive vacation experience and hope we can share our hospitality with you the next time you’re in Vegas.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. We stayed in room 2009 in the Rosemary. There was a beautiful view of the mountains and we were in a two bedroom which had two full kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms and bedrooms. Each bathroom has a shower, a whirlpool bathtub and two sinks. The amenities (one small bottle of conditioning shampoo and one small bottle of body lotion-Breck) seemed inconsistent with what one would expect.

I would have given this venue five stars if not for one disturbing experience. Upon arrival, I checked the bed in our first room and found blonde hair on the sheets. We went into bedroom two and found black hair on the sheets. Seemingly too much of a coincidence. I contacted the front desk who sent someone who arrived right away. She shared the following: We outsource the cleaning of the bedding and it is not unusual for there to be hair that remains on the sheets. Whoever made up the beds did not check carefully enough and take it off before you arrived. We were appalled. She said she would bring up new linens. In the meantime, I called back down to the main desk and spoke to a supervisor who stated the person who gave us information did not speak the truth and that she was just trying to cover up. He said he would send a manager. We waited and the same person showed up at our door identifying herself as a manager. We questioned her but she gave no additional information and no restitution. When we called the front desk again, asking for a manager to explain what had happened, the phone just rang and rang. When a serious issue like this surfaced, there was no one to speak with and one just covered for the other in the Rosemary building so the main office seemed concerned but there was no follow-up because the management in the building circumvented it. They did change the linens but we were distressed and had no confidence that the room had even been cleaned. Since we had already wasted two hours of our time, and after giving the managerial staff every opportunity to respond, we went on to enjoy Las Vegas despite the experience.

There was no timeshare pressure. We were asked once upon arrival and that was the extent of it. Aside from our experience with the cleanliness of the room, we found the staff to be friendly.

The South Point facility and casino is convenient and in walking distance. Upon arrival, you receive a coupon book with discounts and twenty dollars of casino money. We found the odds to be good at the casino. Get your casino card because it provides you with a discount at the buffet which is plentiful. We did not know this and missed out.

Definitely rent a car. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy and inexpensive it is to park - free at the Bellagio and three dollars a day at other lots. Renting the car will save lots of money in taxi fares. Car rental from the airport is easy and reliable from any company as they pool the transportation to the airport.

Visit both Old Las Vegas (Fremont Street) and the main strip. We ate at Oscars which was amazing. Know that there is a half price venue in various places on the strip good for many shows and restaurants - a definite savings. Also, we did not know this but sign up for groupon in Vegas. You will be amazed at the deals at excellent restaurants. We learned about this after the fact. Check out the gondola ride and dinner at the Venetian.

All in all, the Grandview was very comfortable. It is a shame that the cleanliness of the rooms was seriously in question. I am saddened that we received a runaround and that there was a cover-up n addressing the issue. I would welcome speaking to management to make this right because the thought of sleeping on someone else's sheets is a matter of health and safety. If the management had dealt with the issue honestly, my rating would be higher. We exchanged Disney Vacation Timeshare Points for this experience. Sadly, the accommodations and service were not on par with Disney so the Grandview exchange definitely gets the better value by far.

Room Tip: Choose a corner room in the Rosemary with a view of the mountains.

We stayed in a 2 Bedroom unit with family and EVERYTHING was awesome!! We had two separate apartments with two full kitchens, two living rooms, two whirlpool tubs & four TV's. The location was great being an easy straight drive to the heart of the strip. There was plenty of parking for our rental car. There are multiple pools & hot tubs, an internet room with shared computers (no internet connection in the suite unless you pay extra), a snack bar, and coupons for the Southpoint Resort & Casino next door! The staff was very friendly and nice as well. This is a really wonderful vacation spot!

Room Tip: Our room on the third floor was wonderful but I think they must all be good!

I am now what I would consider a expert Timeshare traveler. I purchased my timeshare in 2005 in Sedona and have stayed in about seven of them since then. Funny thing is that we have never stayed in our own, we don't usually visit he same place twice. From Montana to South Florida, we have certainly have gotten great use out of our timeshare purchase.

With that being said, I found this resort to be one of the best we have ever stayed at. We reserved a two bedroom for 5 of us, two couples and a young adult child. We were assigned to the Rosemary tower which was one of the newly renovated towers. We had both rooms for the lockout suite, which included two full 1 bedrooms to give a total of two King bedrooms, 2 kitchens and 2 living rooms. The rooms are connected by an outer area, and we were able to keep the doors open to feel like we have a huge open apartment. The space we had was incredible.

The resort is situated right next door to the Southpoint casino. When you check in at the resort they give you coupon books for the casino. When you go to the resort, go sign up for the rewards program before you purchase or do anything. It only takes 5 minutes and with the 1st coupon in the book, you get $20 free slot play. We had fun with the 4 of us playing our $20 each. No one won but we had fun. The rewards card gets you money off the buffets and the coupons give free bottles of wine you can take back to your room.

I was quite surprised at how the good the food was at the buffets. The prime rib was really good. We went on Surf Turf and grapes night. Each adult buffet came with 2 free glasses of wine and then we took a bottle back to our room with the coupon.

The next morning we went back for the buffet $6.95 a person with your rewards card. This included your coffee and juices. Although not generally a fan of breakfast buffets, this one was decent. The negative, this one is packed. It "closes" at 10 am and you must clear out by 10:30. We got there about 9;45 and it was a madhouse. Get there early! And opt for the fresh omelet station, well worth the wait then the buffet scrambled eggs.

One of the best things about the resorts was the pool. It was the last week of July for our stay and it was hot. Somehow, they were able to keep the pools cool and refreshing. They felt amazing.

I can't say enough about this resort, friendly, spacious and very well maintained. I know a lot of people complain about being pressured to buy, but when we checked in, I just said no to the free breakfast and whatever else they wanted to offer us. Been there done that, just don't go, you don't have to do it.

Room Tip: Rosemary Tower was updated

The Grandview is about 7 miles south of the strip. It is located next to the South Point Casino.
I have been there 3 times and each time it has improved from the last. They have a computer room for your use. Beautiful rooms with fully equipped kitchens, large living room, and a bedroom with TV., jacuzzi and shower. All personnel I came in contact with were very friendly and did not hesitate to greet me, all employees seem to happy to be working there. Any problem was fixed immediately. They have a snack bar on the property. The South Point Casino has many restaurants and is adjacent to the property. Very quiet even though the hotel was pretty well booked up. Many people had children with them to enjoy the pools.. They also have
many planned things to keep you busy during your stay for both children and parents.

Room Tip: To save on long walks ask for a condo near the office, especially if you don't have a car. The...

So I will admit that we used up some RCI points to take a week break in sunny Las Vegas and the deal at the Grandview was dynamite. We got two adjoining 1 bedroom suites so our son could join us and have his own space. We were on the top floor of a building to the back of the property so it was quiet, had plenty of parking and all the amenities we were interested in. There are no high end finishes, but it's nicely decorated, all the appliances worked and we especially enjoyed having the wash machine after a couple of dusty outdoor activities. Nice to have a fridge for pop and breakfast options. We brought our own toiletries (not sufficient/high end here), but that was a minor detail. Loved the Jacuzzi tub, bed was comfortable, living room TV was a good size. Every staff member we met throughout the week was super friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed staying off the strip a ways - our first time in 5 visits to Las Vegas - and the South Point Casino next door had a nice theater, bowling, deli and Steak and Shake for a more casual experience. It's a ways from anything, so you'd need a car to really do any sightseeing, shows, strip and Fremont but that ended up being a good option. You could zip into the parking garage in the back of the major hotels on the strip - pop in for dinner and a show - and back out easily. Honestly never thought I'd stay anywhere off the strip, but for the price - this was a great option!

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor and a building to the back of the property for good parking availability.

This resort is very family oriented. It is located at the far south end of The Strip. You do need a car to travel around. The main Strip area is a 15 minute drive. The apartments are very spacious and clean with a large bathroom and jacuzzi in each. Although apartments are marketed as sleeping 4 persons, there is actually i bed in 1 room and a sofa which opens to a foldaway bed in the living area. This makes the place quite cramped. The kitchen is completely equipped in addition to a washer and dryer. They even provide a small sample of detergent for the washer and dishwasher.

There are many leisure amenities onsite within the resort. These include several sculptured pools and jacuzzis. They also organise daily activities for young kids and teens.

The only downside of the resort is that housekeeping is conducted weekly for free. For additional daily housekeeping, you need to pay a substantial extra.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the new towers.
