“Great Alternative to Staying on the Strip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

This was our second stay at the Desert Paradise Resort. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to be accommodating. The units are spacious and clean. This resort is a worthwhile alternative to staying on the strip. It is quite, a short drive to all attractions and casinos, the adult pool is a relaxing escape, and the fully equipped kitchen gives you the option of eating breakfast in your room. We were able to actually relax by the pool without servers trying to peddle 25.00 cocktails and adults consuming far to much alcohol. Will continue to return to this resort.

From friendly and courteous check in through a fast and simple check out, everything was perfect. We had a fully equipped and furnished one bedroom condo just under 1000 sq. ft. For 10 days. In suite laundry, covered parking, adult and family pools, kids splash area, games room, guest lounge, concierge, free shuttles to strip and shopping, and much, much more.

Clean and recently updated. This is a time share facility that also allows rentals. There is no obligation to attend anything to stay. No pressure, no guilt, nothing.

We were impressed enough that we elected to purchase.

Room Tip: Not a single bad room in the place. Available as one or two bedroom units.

We stayed in a two-bedroom unit during our week's stay at Las Vegas and we most impressed. We had apartment 240 (in Block 10) which was on the upper floor and very well appointed with huge comfortable beds, walk-in closets and large flat-screen TVs in both bedrooms. The kitchen had all the necessary appliances (except a kettle) and there was a utility room with washing machine and dryer. The only downside for this particular apartment was that the balcony area to the rear was completely overshadowed by a large tree which prevented any sunlight getting into the balcony - a minor point, since we didn't spend that much time on the balcony.

There are two linked pool areas providing two large pools, a spa pool, children's pool and a small children's play area with water features. There are ample sun loungers and gazebos with tables and chairs if you prefer the shade. Several BBQs are also situated near one of the pools.

WiFi is available in the main reception area and there are two PCs and a printed in a separate room just off reception.

The resort is only a five minute drive to The Strip but there is a courtesy coach available for those who don't wish to drive. Within a few minutes walk from the resort, there are two shopping areas with a well-stocked Walgreen's Pharmacy/Supermarket and several restaurants (including Denny's and Starbucks) for breakfasts and other meals of the day.

The staff were always very helpful and I would not hesitate to return here if visiting Las Vegas again.

We stayed in a 1-bedroom unit in February 2013. We were very pleased with the place. It was very roomy, with a well-designed kitchen, a large living/dining area and roomy bedroom. It was very well equipped and had lots of closet/storage space.
The bed was very comfortable.
There was a very well-equipped games room including a pool table, foosball, games tables, etc.
The pools were beautiful, but were never busy during the time that we were there - but it was in the low season, so shouldn't have expected anything different.
There is good access to the Strip (it took about 5 minutes to drive there) but far enough away from it that it was very quiet and restful. Access to most other attractions in the Las Vegas area was very good.
Checking in and out went very smoothly.
Overall, we were very pleased with the place and would definitely consider it on our next trip to Las Vegas.

This is 5 minutes off the strip. It was exceptionally clean. The kitchen just sparkled. We had a 2 bedroom unit and a one bedroom unit. Both were updated and comfortable. There are two pools. We used the adult pool which was nice and relaxing. We saw some kids at the other pool having fun. Everyone was friendly and there was no pressure to attend a sales presentation. They do make a good offer if you do go. Services for show tickets and a shuttle are available. We would stay there again.

This being our second trip to Vegas and to the Desert Paradise – we had no doubts about having a great vacation, and we were not disappointed. In fact we were, yet again, pleasantly surprised as the Desert Paradise accommodated us in a newly renovated condo. I should note that all condos are in great shape, as the upgrades are being done in stages. We had new appliances, new king size bed, new washer and dryer – yes, I even did a wash while on vacation…;)

In fact we even cooked a turkey – not something that we would normally do on vacation…;)

Beyond comfort food - the purpose of this vacation was to get hitched in Vegas fashion - and all of our wedding party stayed with us at the Desert Paradise and I can assure you that all were very happy with the wonderfully equipped condos in particular and the resort experience in general. From solo traveler to family of six, they all loved it and can’t wait to go back…That says a lot in the competitive world of travel.

From this experience, I would say that this resort is perfect for families or couples or even individuals – it is very laid back and not too far from the strip but far enough to be relaxing. I should point out that if you want to be on the strip there is a sister property in the very heart of the non-stop action called the Polo Towers – owned by the same people that run the Desert Paradise – check it out on Tripadvisor. If you require non-stop-overwhelming-sensory-overload then this little gem will put you in the middle of it. Having said that the Polo itself is set back from the strip, a 2 minute walk, and also a quiet oasis in the middle of crazy Las Vegas…

If you are looking for a luxury vacation that includes spas , high-end shopping, around the clock activities, with hotel staff at your beck and call then you may want to consider the more upscale luxury properties on the strip at ten times the price or more….If like us, you are looking for a laid-back, comfortable, modern, clean property were people actually say hello to each other and carry on conversations in an atmosphere of relaxation, where children can play safely, where you can bring a cold drink to the adult pool area without breaking ten rules…you get the picture!

It should be noted that Stephen Cloobeck is CEO of Diamond Resorts which owns the Desert Paradise and has been featured on Undercover Boss – another great sign!!!
In fact, another property called the Cancun, has been recently added to the Diamond Resorts portfolio. We did check it out and the pool area looks wonderful – think pool areas at Mayan Riviera resorts!

And no, I do not work for Diamond Resorts; I just like to write reviews at the end of a great holiday…;)

Cheers,
Marc and Leesa,
Ottawa, Canada

Resort was very nice. Suite was clean and spacious, bed was very comfortable. Grounds were well kept, spas and pools were great! There were plumbing problems but they were addressed quickly. Would have been nice if they had been in to clean more than once in our seven day stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite on the ground floor as there are NO elevators.
