“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

We stayed here early October. The hotel was great. We stayed in a huge corner suite. Great lounge area with drinks and snacks, we usually grabbed a couple bottles of Fiji before we went back to the room each night. We used the complimentry laptop a few times. The added luxury of the sky suites and the overall Aria property is fantastic.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

Stayed in the Sky Suites for 5 nights from December 17th-22nd. I have stayed twice at the regular Aria before sky suites, and therefore was quite familiar with the property. We were expecting a substantial increase in service levels, and found that the experience was not quite up to par.

The majority of the problems we experienced were at the front desk, where often times we had to wait well over 5 minutes for service, with the longest taking 10 minutes. Apparently, all staff are "trained" as concierges, but I really question that, and did not find my interactions with them to be on par with that of hotel concierges. Upon checking in we asked for a complimentary upgrade I qualified for through mlife based on availability. We were told that we would receive the upgrade for an additional fee, which we declined, even after requesting the upgrade over the phone, and the front desk stating availability (this was for a non city view to city view upgrade, which is a standard upgrade).

One of them major issues we faced was when we had a issue with the hot water supply (for two mornings in a row it took nearly 10-15 minutes to get hot water). While someone did come up to fix it after we complained, they fix was "flushing the system out" by turning on all the sinks. We also found the bathtub easy to flood, but that is a separate design issue. While the hot water issue was pretty major for a hotel of this stature, we found their response to be even more lackluster to fix the issue. I asked to speak to a manager, and one was not available for several days. They did call back, but it was usually several hours after we called them, and they left cut off messages, and made it extremely hard to reach them. When we finally did reach a manager upon check-out no compensation was offered, even though we were paying a very high room rate for our 2-bedroom Penthouse. While I did not object or request compensation, as it was never really about getting some sort of compensation, I found that since they did not offer compensation I walked away with a distaste from their decisions.

WIth that being said, the hotel is a beautiful property, and we found the technology to be perfect for the room, but not without some bugs. In addition, the steam shower is a must, and is absolutely phenomenal. I am now looking into getting one at home. The room was cleaned meticulously everyday for several hours by housekeeping, and sometimes with 2 people. There was however a service issue in that requests took a substantial amount of time to be fulfilled such as receiving additional ash trays (took 3 calls and about an hour and a half), and room service often times took a very long time (one night it took over an hour and by the time the food had reached our room everyone in my group had fallen asleep with room service waking me up by phone, those $22 chicken fingers went to waste). Also, upon ordering a bottle of vodka to the room, they delivered the bottle with only 4 glasses. Upon requesting more, the lady stared at us, and said in order to get more glasses I would have to charge you a fee. After some back and forth she said she could see what she could do, clearly looking for an additional tip, which we did not give to her, as glasses should come for free regardless of purchase. She did after an hour bring us up 15-20 glasses, which lasted us the whole week.

The lounge had very poor wine selections, although the cheese and soda setup was adequate. I would not book based on the lounge alone, as even the wine had strict hours of operation. This is not an open bar like must club levels at great hotels.

We did use a runner once to do a pickup, and they were quick and accommodating. It cost $40 to run and pickup a $300 item, not too bad, as a cab would have been close to an equal fare.

We got a change to try the new buffet during their soft opening, and found the food quality to be below buffet quality, with everything tasting a little off. That being said, Tetsu, Vettro, and Julian Serrano, were all excellent alternatives. Haze nightclub was not a lot of fun on the Thursday night we were there, and there was great difficulty booking a table through the hotel concierge, so we just booked it through our VIP host Leo. They did eventually make a table reservation, but it was for a higher fee. The Sky Suites Concierge/Front Desk agents was able to secure us great table reservations at all the restaurants we went to. Overall the concierge was very poor on organizing for nightclubs, and very good with restaurants. Also be cautious, when you dial 0 on the phone, you do not connect to the sky suites front desk, but the general phone number.

Overall, I would likely not recommend this hotel, especially at the room rates they were charging. The hotel seemed to have 5-star accommodations with 3 star service and 3 star facilities maintenance.

Room Tip: Higher Floor, request a city view upgrade if mLife Gold or above.

We stayed here for 3 nights just before Christmas. We were upgraded complientary to the sky suites. The rooms are huge we didn't want to leave. Everything is controlled by a remote... Lights, blinds and tv.
The location of the hotel is great right in the centre of the strip.
They have a dedicated lounge for free breakfast, soft drinks etc
The casino is huge, to get to the sky suites you have to walk straight through which is very tempting. However you do get free drinks when you are gambling, which is good as the bar drinks are expensive.
Overall an amazing hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Go there, just go there!! The hotel is gorgeous (and smells amazing!!), the staff are super friendly and the choice of restaurants is phenominal with 20 to chosse from. The facilities at the hotel are also great, with an in-hotel theatre which is currently hosting Cirque du Soleil. Also attached to the hotel is a high-end shopping centre (Tiffany, Gucci etc) but great for window shopping if your purse won't quite stretch and nice for a little treat if it will!!. Also although smoking indoors is permitted in Vegas (as is drinking in the street) not once did I notice a smell of smoke. Worth every one of its 5 stars.

Room Tip: Ask for a 'Strip view' room, its totally worth it and doesn't cost that much to upgrade...

Aria's facilities are modern and extremely clean and organized. I was very happy with the wait staff and the treatment I received. Go with an Aria suite for the VIP treatment.
Highly recommended for young couples and business persons looking for a classy environment with less seniors and smoking.

I found this hotel very nice and staff very helpful.

Visited Vegas Nov. 17 to 21, 2012. Girls birthday getaway.

Drinks in the lounge were very expensive ($17 for a margarita). Same price for drinks by the pool. Funny they have a lifeguard on duty for a shallow pool and not many people in the pool....and only one waitress to serve food and/or drinks to all the people laying in the sun. It would take at least 20 minutes to get a drink.

My room way very nice with a decent view. Don't touch anything in the fridge as there are sensors and they charge you big time. You cannot move things or put anything extra in the fridge....charges!

Bonus... Sky Suites has lounge with coffee and muffins, water, pop... all free. Afternoons there is wine and cheese, also free. There is a check out desk for guests, free laptops, and they print your boarding passes!

Problems - gave a credit card at lounge, but paid in cash. They still put it on the credit card! Checked out of hotel and there were no additional charges, but there were more charges on my credit card! WTF!!! Still dealing with it!

We spent one night at sky suites to celebrate our anniversary after spending 2 nights at regular Aria. Simply the best hotel experience I could imagine. We had rm 55001, a corner suite with stunning views in almost every which way. The decor and finishes were totally my thing, modern but tasteful, immaculately clean. Very spacious, bed and pillows to die for, gorgeous bathroom complete with 4k toilet.
Obviously one night was too brief a stay but I will be back, and can hardly wait.
