“Secret gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

I am preparing a tour around California and Nevada for my family. I was in Las Vegas and visited this hotel. It does not have a casino (a relief in Vegas!) and it is very quiet. It is a 10-min walk to Luxor, which at 45ºC might seem like a lot. I checked the rooms and they are absolutely great: clean, comfortable... If you're not looking to stay on one of the famous Strip hotels (which might make sense when travelling with young kids), this is definitely the perfect option. If you really want to see the Vegas from movies and the famous hotels (and if you're only once in Vegas, it's a reasonable option), this is not the place to go.

This is a restful place to stay in an otherwise stressful city. Rooms were perfect and very clean, amenities good. Breakfast is a bit poor and conditions crowded. Also, it is difficult to use the pool for more than 30 minutes, as there is virtually no protection from the sun. Why not place sailcloth over the whole area?

This hotel represents excellent value for money. The hotel rooms are suites with good facilities and ours was clean and the air conditioning worked well. The breakfast area could do with refurbishing, however, the breakfast was adequate with a selection of cereal, fruit and a hot choice. We didn't use the pool area so cannot comment. Complimentary wine, beer and nibbles late afternoon was very welcome. We didn't want to stay on the strip and this hotel is ideally placed within easy walking distance of it. The concierge was very helpful and printed out our boarding cards for us and recommended restaurants. If we visited Las Vegas again we would return.

This is a good place to stay if you are not concerned with luxury. Rented a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom unit for 6 nights. The place was a little rundown but nothing excessive. Reasonably clean. There were 2 flat screen tv's in the unit which was nice. Full kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, blender toaster, and cooking utensils. Only one ice machine per building was a bit of a problem in 110 degree weather. People kept emptying the machine to fill their coolers but once you were able to fill the ice bucket you could keep it in the freezer and did not have to keep getting ice. Breakfast was much better than I expected. They had either scrambled eggs, french toast, or waffles everyday as well as bacon, sausage, or ham. Fruit, cereal, and yogurt were also available. Definately a cost savings here.
Monday through Thursday there is even complimentary wine and beer served in the lobby. Nice touch. Concierge service was adequate and the staff was generally very helpful.

I was not really impressed at first but the longer I spent there, the more I liked it.

Stayed here for one week, wanted to stay away from the large crowded hotels on the strip but still be within easy access of the main strip. This place did not disappoint, large two bedroom apartment on the third floor, overlooking the south end of the strip. Very quiet, clean apartment with everything needed for a short or long stay. Simple breakfast included which could be a bit frantic if you don't get there early enough, and the rooms could perhaps do with some up dating as they are an older style, but these are minor points in what is great value accommodation. Only a 15 minute easy walk to the strip/monorail via the MGM Grand, or to the Luxor/Mandalay Bay. Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stopped in block 4 room 4303. Good views of the New York , Luxor, MGM, however you do overlook th...

Last year i commented on desert Rose Resort looking a bit shabby and dated well they did not listen, old decor, shower door kept falling off, broken zip on sofa base, dirty bathroom floors. This was my 7th stay here and my worst so far , get a grip Desert Rose or you will end up a Vegas Slum. iam sure timeshare visitors would not be happy.

Room Tip: Block 4 the best

We stayed here one nite before leaving for Grand Canyon rafting trip. Was a clean, basic spot with a pool. Worked just fine as a convenient location for one nite. We walked to strip for a bit. Staff was helpful and accommodating.
