I had a good time at this hostel and they have daily night activities for the first time visitor.
The only bad side was one of the rude travelers-workers at the front desk, a chap by the name of Patrick. He is young, moody and rude, so just avoid him. The rest of the hostel workers are cool and friendly.
This hostel is in a rough neighborhood on S. Las Vegas Blvd. by Charleston St., right in the middle between Old Vegas Fremont St. and the Main Strip that begins on Sahara St. Be aware when shopping for food, cigs or booze at night. Hustlers, weirdos and other down and outs patrol the streets looking for spare change, cigs, beer, sex etc. On the back side of the Hostel is the Arts District area, which has a cool nightclub, gallery openings, bar, and cafe that is worth a visit. The Cuban and Mexican restaurants near the hostel on S. Las Vegas Blvd. street are also good for some late night hunger stops.
The good thing about the hostel is that is organizes partying events for the guests. The guest makeup is the young traveler set, mostly Europeans. The hostel likes partying and people that enjoy drinking and smoking. You can't smoke inside however. They also know where to go whether in old Las Vegas or on the Strip. The kitchen is in use almost all hours of the day, and it has lots of utensils and burners, so five people can use it at once. There is not much table space for cutting, but the traveler can make do. They have lockers inside the rooms, but you have to have your own lock or buy one from the front desk.
I had a great time there because I met cool people from Europe and from around the states, the staff were cool, and the night events were lots of fun. Although your feet will hurt at the end of the night. The party always began inside of the hostel with lots of drinking, smoking and eating, and then it moved out to the streets with guests and the hostel party leader walking around the city blocks, bars, clubs and casinos. He timed them perfectly with bathroom breaks in the right casinos to go into, and with stops for shopping and buying some more booze and cigs.
