“Impressed (Overall) by the New Kid on the Strip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We stayed at the Cosmo over the weekend before New Year's Eve, and while there were quite a few positives, there are other hotels on the strip that I prefer.

Positives
- The service.  The front desk was fantastic, and while all of the rooms overlooking the fountain were sold, he got us a room with an amazing view of the strip (east tower).  All of our interactions with staff were impeccable (check in, room service, bell hop, taxi line, etc.)
- The view and location.  The Cosmo is next to the Bellagio and centrally located on the strip.  There is a Walgreens nearby for drinks, sundries, and other necessities.
- Rooms are spacious and well laid out.  The bathing area (huge bath tub and walk in shower with windows) was chic and worked well with the room.

Considerations
-Young crowd.  I'm 29, and I had little patience for many of the people we encountered.  While not the case with everyone, many were loud, drunk, and didn't tip.  There were also kids playing in the main walkway of the casino.  Seriously. Who brings their kids to a casino?!
- Room cleanliness.  The couch in our suite had what looked like a puke stain.  One of our bath mats had a makeup stain on it.
- No turndown service.

Other points and tips
- As with any hotel in the world, tipping will tend to provide you with a richer experience.
- Stay in the east tower.
- Order guacamole and margaritas at China Poblano.  You will thank me.
- E (hidden restaurant in Jaleo with limited nightly seating; you have to reserve by email in advance), Comme Ca, Scarpetta, and Jaleo are all delicious.

“The Cosmopolitan was a disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We went to Vegas this past holiday week for our friends wedding. They got married at the Cosmopolitan so that's where we stayed. The rooms were cheap and I do think that for Vegas that's probably how to choose a room especially if it's in the center of the strip and the location is perfect.

That being said...I would choose a different hotel next time if I could. The Cosmopolitan was a huge disappointment.

It started out bad and with the exception of Holsteins, the amazing burger joint, the wedding itself, and the dinner at Scarpetta, there was really no upside at all.

*Check in was unbearably slow. The lines for each check-in desk make no sense and are unorganized.
*Our room was nice LOOKING, but...the beds, sheets and pillows are terribly uncomfortable, the water pressure is HORRIBLE and the lighting is atrocious.
*The shower leaked all over the entire bathroom floor and we had to use all of our towels to clean it up.
*20 bucks to work out in the gym is RIDICULOUS.
*The boarding pass printout machine in the lobby is a great idea but was useless and frustrating.
*The hallways and elevators were filthy. There was a room cart out in the hallway at one point and I guess the guests had ordered crab legs. Those crab legs were left on the floor for a while...EVEN AFTER THE CART WAS TAKEN AWAY!

I will say that the staff at every turn was great, friendly and helpful.

I definitely wouldn't choose the Cosmo again...unless of course the rooms were free.

“A high tech, vibrant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We stayed at the Cosmopolitan for Christmas. We had a beautiful room on the 56th floor with a great view of the City Center to Mandalay Bay and beyond. The hotel is vibrant and alive. It is the most computerized hotel we have stayed in. The room was lovely and you could control everything from reservations to the room settings via the remote on the screen. The service was very good. We were amazed by all of the video screens everywhere and they changed all of the time with looks that included a wall of old library books to beautiful illustrations of flowers and just designs. The spa is beautiful but I have to say it was a bit masculine in design. Everyone was very helpful and the location is just great. It is really in the middle of everything. Of course I had to have a Cosmo for my first drink there (and it was a good one)

“Beautiful hotel and casino with some shortcomings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

I stayed at the Cosmopolitan a few days ago. I had booked it thru Marriott.
The hotel, like most of the other hotels on the strip, was crowded.
I was given an upgraded room with a view of the strip, specifically the Eiffel Tower and the water works at Bellagio. It had two rooms and was nicely appointed, including a balcony.
The TV in the living room did not work and I had to call for service. It had to be reset to get it working again.
The next morning when attempting to take a shower, I could not find any soap, shampoo, or a robe. Both robes were missing, not sure if the previous guest took them both or what happened.
It took them over half an hour to deliver the missing items to the room.
The valet was full the entire weekend I was there and we were directed to self park.
At check out the lobby was overflowing with guests checking in or out. I found one of their staff in the lobby and gave her my info which she wrote down on a post-it note. I asked for a copy of the bill to be emailed to me which did not happen and I had to call back a couple of days later and request it again.
I can't hold the couple of issues I experienced against them. I will reserve judgement for after a couple of more stays to see if these persist.

“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Good Hotel shame that we had a full kitchen in our suite, but could not use it as there was no pans/plates/cups/cuttlery nothing, it dont make sense !
Beware when checking out as they said we had lots of laundry done and we had not used that service once and they said we had used $68 of drinks out of the fridge that also was a lie as they wanted $13 for a can of pepsi so we never went near it all, besides that it was a lovely suite would definetly use it again !
