“Hilton Grand Elara was Grandesn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

The consistency of the Hilton Grand Vacations line of hotels has been exceptional experience for us. They all have been very clean, secure with up excellent amenities. We recently stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacations Elara and found it to be the same, but with some unique differences.

First, the hotel was apparently taken over by Hilton for unknown reasons. It has a very trendy architecture to the hotel (in/out) and from that perspective it is quite different that other Grand Vacation properties we have stayed at.

Hilton has renovated the rooms of this property and their finished product is second to none. The suite I stayed in was about $190.00 per night. It could have been rented for twice that amount due to its condition and amenities.

My suite had five (5) TV's. One of which was a projection TV system that was viewed on the automated roll down window shade, that was approximately 12' in length; truly incredible. There was a hot tub in the master bedroom and a glass shower/phone/tv in the bathroom.

There was a lunch type counter in the kitchen that sat four (4) people (also a frig/cooktop).

Furnishings looked brand new and the view of the strip from the 36th floor was "great." That had indirect lighting in the suite which gave a cool vibe to the suite.

We rented a cabana at the pool for $100.00 with a $100.00 food minimum. Truly worth it. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent.

I will be going back. You can't go wrong at the Elara. It was truly was "Grand."

I enjoyed our stay here there was six of us and had a two bed roomed suite
The pull out bed in the living area was very lumpy but bearable as it was only for four nights
Good pool area
cleaned daily and clean towels
Not too busy as it does not have a casino
Couldn't fault it

I'm as picky as it gets and a light sleeper to boot, but I thought this was a wonderful place to stay. Arrived with a friend late last Monday evening. No line to check in and everything was in order. We stayed in a studio the first night, and then upgraded to a one bedroom for the remainder of our stay. We were very lucky to get an affordable package that included the room and the flight.

The studio was great. A microwave, small fridge, coffee maker. The bathroom has a nice tub and vanity, the toilet was in a separate little room. The king sized bed was super comfortable. The push button blackout blinds were terrific. No complaints, but we wanted a bit more space for our stay so we paid a bit extra for the one bedroom and it was well worth it!

We stayed on the 30th floor with a north view. We could see the Eiffel Tower at Paris and the High Roller, but I wouldn't call it a real strip view. It didn't particularly matter as we didn't spend a whole lot of time in the room. You can control the air conditioning which was great as I found the room quite cold when we arrived.

The kitchen was lovely and well appointed. Even a blender. The fridge has a built in icemaker. The microwave was handy for heating up leftovers. The little package of hotel coffee was no great shakes but did in a pinch. It was nice to sit at a proper table to eat. There was a large sectional in the living room, and yes the five tvs which never really got used. But I did get a kick when we turned the projector tv on in the living room and my name came up.

The bathroom was gorgeous, a huge walk in shower, separate toilet area and a two sink vanity - much appreciated by us two gals. There were lots of towels. And a washer/dryer unit that my travelling companion made good use of! The toiletries were okay. Some shower gel or bubble bath would have made a lovely addition. Also please put some bumpers on the door to the toilet area. The glass door made a horrible clang when it closed. Startled me every time!

A large jacuzzi was in the bedroom with a super comfy king bed. The setup was perfect for a couple, a bit awkward for two gal pals, but we wore suits in the tub and got used to sharing a bed. Elara - please do a few rooms with two double or queen beds. We could have used the pullout couch but it didn't look that comfortable and there was only an extra pillow and blanket in the closet.

The pool is shallow throughout and unheated. There were lots of lounge chairs and you show your key card to get in and get a towel. The hot tub was nice - didn't use the bar. Not a great swimming pool in my opinion but given that we had other things to do it wasn't a biggie for me.

The best part for me was the cleanliness and the quiet. I heard absolutely no sound and saw not a speck of dirt anywhere in the hotel for the entire stay. In fact, everywhere we went in Vegas was very clean and well maintained. Everyone we met was lovely and polite, whether it was the housekeeping staff, elevator security, front desk, gift shop, concierge, or valet. It was rather nice to come back to the hotel and be welcomed home!

Some other notes for newbies like us - load your Starbucks card before you go. Most of the Starbucks are owned by the hotels and do not allow card reloads nor do they redeem reward drinks. And they are more expensive than in Canada.

We never did find a grocery store, but were able to pick up a few things at a Walgreens a bit south of the hotel. We found restaurant portions to be huge. I ordered a chef's salad the first night that would have fed a family of 4 for two days! Split meals whenever you can or be happy with leftovers. There are lots of places to eat in the mall - favourites were Cheesburger and Earl of Sandwich.

Be prepared for tons of walking. We walked 28 km in 3 days and I had to buy trainers while there. Use the bus (double deuce) whenever possible - $8 for a day pass or $20 for 3 days - best deal in town. The heat was flat out awful, but we tried to minimize the time outdoors. Carry water with you and drink lots.

The Elara was centrally located and made a good base for exploring. Very nice to be in a non-smoking property without a casino. It is actually located in the Miracle Mile Mall, which was almost a little too convenient. lol We opted not to pay $10 extra a night for wi-fi as most restaurants had it for free. There were no resort fees at this hotel which was a factor in our selection. It was a quick $15 cab ride from the airport. I would definately recommend the Elara and stay there again!

We booked this hotel last minute through Priceline, since we only wanted a 1 night stay on a Saturday and weren't really too fussed where we stayed (we were moving to the MGM the next day). We arrived at the hotel at around 4:30pm and were a little shocked when the lady at reception said "oh, i'm not sure if we have a room ready yet" (what time's check-in?) and then disappeared for more than 10 minutes (no exaggeration). During this time people came up to desks beside us and got checked in right away, while we stood looking like lost puppy dogs and wondering where she had gone. We also had a very cranky 2 year old after a 4 hour drive from California, so were really eager to just get to the room and let him run around. She returned 10 minutes later and explained that she had gone to see about getting us a better room (great!), and that she actually ended up getting us a room on the 52nd floor (I think there's only about 56 floors in the hotel), in a room with a separate lounge area and a view of the strip as she thought the kids would enjoy the view better. We were incredibly appreciative, and even more so when we got to the room and saw how perfect it was! Small kitchen area, living room, separate bedroom, views of the strip, jetted tub etc. Considering we booked last minute through an external company we really wasn't expecting anything great, so were very surprised at this upgrade (especially for a Saturday night in Vegas!).

The room is probably the nicest room i've stayed at in Vegas. And the location was great; seconds from Miracle Mile shops and close proximity to everything from there. I also love that the Casino is hidden on the ground floor; this makes it a much more family orientated hotel and means we can get in and out the hotel within minutes (not 20 like some of the other hotels). The pool was small but perfect for us, and it seemed very quiet too.

The 4 / 5 star is down to the slow check-in service (we did appreciate the upgrade, but would have just appreciated some communication rather than disappearing for so long). Also their check-out time is 10AM. Not a huge problem for us, but I thought that was very early considering it's Vegas, so it could be a problem for some. Also, the lady at Front Desk gave us the wifi password for free (I think to make up for the disappearance) but we couldn't get it working in the room. When my fiance called down they told him that it was because we were too high up(?) and to go down a few floors and call the technician. Obviously, we didn't bother, and that could be a problem for those actually needing the internet. For 1 night, we made do without. We also found a cell phone in our room when we checked in; we answered it when it rang and managed to determine that one of the housekeepers left it in our room. They were delighted that we had been so honest, and we agreed to take it down to the Front Desk and leave it there for the housekeeper to pick it up in the morning. When my fiance went down to give it to them that night, the lady at Front Desk apparently seemed completely clueless about what he was trying to explain to her, and gave him no apology that it was left in our room, or thanked for us bringing it down and being good, honest people (especially since it was on behalf of their staff member).

Overall though the upgrade, location and room really made for a great trip and we would definitely consider staying here again!

1 bedroom unit was great, spacious, full kitchen, etc.4 tvs. Didn't like that internet connection was $9.95 a day and only 1 piece of equipment was able to use it at one time. Yes, free wifi in the lobby, but that's such a pain. Shouldn't charge you at all! Pool was nice, but only 3'6" deep !, food choices at pool restaurant were okay! great location, attached to Planet Hollywood shops, Starbucks at end of lobby! Fitness room was a joke. Yes, had 4 or 5 treadmills, a few ellipticals, 1 bike, 3 mats, 1 bosu ball, 3 medicine balls, 1 bench, 1 rack of dumbbells, and 5-6 machines. Ridiculous for a Hilton Vacation Club property, let alone any Hilton !

I had a 1 bedroom suite. The place was super clean. The suite had a great tub in the master bedroom, kitchen with great appliances, washer/dryer unit, TV in every room. Staff was very friendly. Centrally located, but not a noisy casino, with easy access to the strip. This is a time share location for the Hilton Vacation Group.
