The best thing about the Vdara is the lack of a casino and thus the associated cigarette smell. OK it is not right on the strip but even the laziest person can surely walk five minutes to get there! Check in was effortless and we were given a choice of a high or low floor, the view from the 38 floor gave us a great vista. Yes the cafe in reception is expensive, so go to the local Walgreens (stock up your fridge with drinks and save a fortune) and if you are passing a Starbucks "borrow" a supply of their knives, forks and spoons. We never planned to eat in our room (apart from breakfast) so the lack of kitchen items was never an issue (buy the individual cereals/yoghurts that come in their own pot). All the staff we encountered were polite and informative and yes we had to sometimes show our room key to get in the lifts, but so what! And for all those who have grumbled about the resort fee - when you book you know you are going to have to pay it, so get over it! So if we come back to Vegas were staying here.
