My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights near the end of August for a belated honeymoon, and if we come back to Vegas, we will definitely stay here again! This was his first time to Vegas and my second.
We LOVED the non-smoking atmosphere, and stayed in a fabulous room overlooking the Bellagio fountains. We actually enjoyed the fact that there was no casino in this property, as it gave us a chance to get out and move a bit. Each morning I went down to the pool and lounged/swam/enjoyed a book, while my husband joined a poker game at the Aria (sister hotel) across the road/circle driveway. The pool at the Vdara was great, and service there was fairly good, though one day I did have to wait because only one waitress was working. All of the other days there were two or three servers walking around. I did enjoy an egg scrambler dish from the pool menu, and sat at the tables nearby; this meal was excellent, and I would have eaten from this menu more often if I didn't have a free brunch each day. I found that it was easy to find a lounger in a good spot, and there was plenty of sun to soak up. I did find that the rays would reflect off the hotel windows, and at one point I had to move because it got too hot! The pool deck also burned my feet when I walked to the steps to cool off in the water, but I guess that's what you get in the desert during the hottest week of the year! We then had a late brunch each day at the Aria buffet, which was included with our room at the Vdara, and was EXCELLENT food. I do wish there was a buffet in the Vdara, but the Aria is also lovely and just a very short walk away, so it was a minor inconvenience.
We didn't use the bar in our hotel as we had plans each evening and it just didn't work out for us to drink there, but I did access the room service menu late one evening for a delicious pasta dish. We also loved the tram (accessible from the back of the property) as we had friends staying at NY NY, and the tram got us much closer to them for the few times we met up.
TIP: If you want to learn how to play craps, go across the road to the Aria and ask for Nic; she is amazing and walked me through the game step by step...I even won a little over $300 my first time playing!
