“Island of tranquility in a sea of insanity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

In vegas for a trade show, so I was forced to walk through the smoked filled casino at the bellagio each day on my way to the conference. By the end of the day, my eyes burned And my throat was sore from the smoke.

But at the end of each day, I'd come back to the mandarin and it's quiet, smoke-less, tranquil rooms and just relax. Yes, it is not cheap. But the rooms are gorgeous, the beds sooooo comfortable and overall a tremendously peaceful hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room on the highest floor possible to avoid any road noise from the strip.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in September. We chose it based on all the very positive reviews and were not disappointed. All the staff were very welcoming and polite at all times, nothing was too much trouble. Our room had a strip view and was extremely clean and comfortable. The pool area is lovely and the staff are friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. We had a great time in Vegas and will definitely return. We would not hesitate to stay at the Mandarin Oriental again as it really is so peaceful and calm after the craziness surrounding it!!

My husband and I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for almost a week during our stay in Las Vegas for our fourth wedding anniversary. The hotel, with its dark décor and sleek, sophisticated design, served as a peaceful retreat from the activity of the Strip (particularly the persistent folks who attempt to sell you discount show tickets). The staff members (front desk, housekeeping, spa, servers) were very gracious. Regarding our room, we stayed in a Cityscape Room on the 15th floor with a great view of the Strip including the rollercoaster at New York, New York and the red and blue turrets of Excalibur. The bathroom, though it presented a couple of privacy challenges, was awesome with its freestanding tub, vessel sinks, and TV in the mirror.

My husband and I enjoyed the following:
+ Impeccable customer service
+ Good location
+ Contemporary features and plush furnishings in the room
+ Relatively quiet (b/c there is no gaming on the property)
+ High definition flat-screen TV with a range of cable channels
+ Spa experience (I definitely recommend the Chinese Foot Spa.)
+ Tea Lounge (The Classic English Afternoon Tea makes for a lovely experience. The tea cocktails and macaroons are pretty good as well.)
+ Breakfast at MOzen Bistro (tasty options and well-sized portions)

The following were a few minor areas of improvement:
- No microwave in the room
- More privacy regarding bathroom design (Glass wall allows you to see into bathtub area.)
- TV in bathroom mirror required fixing on 2 occasions.

Room Tip: A Cityscape Room usually offers an affordable but comfortable experience.

My wife and I stayed here for the final leg of our honeymoon. We knew the hotel had no casino but apart from that we had little to go on apart from the great reviews on here. Initially on arrival we didn't really know what to make of the place. It's so very different to the hotels around it which are all massive and OTT glamorous, with all the lights and skyscrapers. The MO is the opposite, it's small, discreet and high end. On arrival we were checked in swiftly. I enquired about an upgrade possibility and mentioned we were on honeymoon but the options presented to us were 800 dollars extra per night or 80 dollars per night. We checked out our initial room which was lovely but on the same level as the pool, which we were not very happy about, so I agreed to pay the 80 dollars per night upgrade for a better room on the 21st floor. The room was lovely, the bathroom enormous and the bed was the most comfortable we've ever slept in.

At this point I was to say one thing; I was a little miffed that there was no offer to comp us a night or two of the upgrade fee as a gesture. There was nothing in our room to say congrats on the wedding either, a cheap bottle of fizz should be mandatory for honeymooners I think. I was slightly dissapointed because we had paid 600e for a spa treatment plus 400 on room upgrades and I thought the hotel could have at least offered us a complementary night on the upgrade or a bottle of wine over dinner or something.

Anyway, any disappointment was brief because the staff literally knocked the ball out of the park for the next 5 days. Everything was first class, the room staff, the poolside staff (where we did get a glass of fizz from the lovely Jordan!) the concierge staff who sorted us out with tickets for 2 shows at short notice, the bar staff in the 23rd floor bar who made us amazing cocktails, the door staff out front who were courteous and friendly and always welcome you "home" in the evening, the service staff in Mozen who were amazing. I could not speak more highly of their professionalism and manner, they are all a credit to the hotel.

Above all else though, our initial feeling of slight disappointment at the small scale of the hotel versus the aria, bellagio or Wynn turned very quickly into a feeling of delight that we had such a peaceful oasis off calm to return to at the end of a long day enjoying all that Vegas can offer.

We both agreed that as long as you know exactly what to expect (small discreet high class hotel and first class service but no flashing lights or casino) this place is the BEST option in Vegas. I can honestly say that we will never stay in another hotel when returning to sin city!

Super service and view. Great location. Reasonably priced for the 5 star décor. You will love it, especially if you are a techie. Lots of gadgets, that are remote controlled. The only weird aspect: You have to go up to the upper floor to get to the lobby, since you arrive in the basement.

Room Tip: Can't go wrong here. More fun with your spouse

My wife and I stayed at the MO during a recent first-time visit to Vegas. All I can do is echo the many great reviews this hotel has received. It really is an oasis of peace and tranquility in the middle of all the craziness of the Strip.

Just one minor complaint: it would have been nice to have a coffee machine (e.g., Nespresso) in the room. Free coffee was provided outside Mozen Bistro each morning from 6-8 am. However, this was rather inconvenient. Also, the coffee was not very hot on several days.

OK must say it is nice to arrive back at the hotel and the door man says "welcome home" we felt like it was home. Peaceful great serice, helpful staff. We start our stay in a NY NY facing 22nd floor room and it was great but next day upgraded to a larger 19th floor facing the other direction (I had a chest cold and was keeping the wife awake). Both rooms had the best views and the staff did everything they could to ensure our stay was the best experince we could have.

Cannot comment to much on the meals as we got up late and went to shows and dinner every night. We had drinks in the 23rd floor bar and what a great view.

If you are not in Vegas to gamble then this is the hotel to stay ot. Central to all the main attractions.

Room Tip: Have read all the comments on rooms. Yes all rooms as exceptional, but a view of the strip was what...
