“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

I was pleasantly surprised by this small hotel in Summerlin. It's clean, and has a functional gym to work out in. The rooms are a little on the small side, but you do have a nice kitchen. My kids didn't like that the pool is a salt water pool --- but it was clean and served it's purpose.

After spending two weeks on the road staying at the same brands, we wanted something different for our last night. This was a nice change of pace. Great staff - very attentive. Room was nice. Great beds. Slept well. Didn't use the kitchen, but it would be a nice convenience for an extended stay. Liked the room, but next time would opt for a separate bedroom. Bathroom was huge. No tub, but an extra large shower. Lighting in bathroom was dim - needs to be brighter. Breakfast was really good. Maybe rooms are cheaper on the strip, but this room was definitely better.

We had a great stay at the Element in Summerlin. The front desk staff changed our room to a mountain view when we asked, with no problem. The saline pool was refreshing after hiking all day in Red Rock Park, just a few minutes away.

The full hot breakfast was good, but could be great, if better, stronger coffee was served and a greater variety of fresh fruit, rather than the daily green apples and under-ripe bananas.

The laundry room was convenient and staff provided change for the machines when we needed it.

Great stay! I will go back.

Room Tip: We enjoyed looking out at the mountains from our room. I did not hear the guests in nearby rooms bu...

Green Features: Loved the saline in the pool rather than harsh chlorine. I appreciated the efforts to recycle, since this industry involves so many little packages of stuff. Loved the non-smoking, which is rare in Las Vegas.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014 via mobile

I stayed here for 5 weeks in June/July 2013. From the moment I walked in the door, I was pleased with the location. The staff is attentive and friendly in a non-fawning sort of way, and the lobby is immaculate and very modern.

The rooms are extraordinary! I stayed in a one bedroom suite, and I had a separate bedroom, kitchen, living room and bathroom. The environmentally friendly products and construction are tastefully done, and one need not be an environmentalist to appreciate the hotel. The bed was comfortable, although my room was next to an equipment room so there was some vibration through the walls.

The only negative to the rooms is the minimalist sound proofing through the hotel. Noise bleeds through the floors and ceilings, and especially the walls. On a few occasions I left my room while my neighbors were having personal phone conversations that I didn't feel right to be unintentionally listening in on. This had the effect of making me tiptoe around my own room so as not to disturb those around me.

The breakfast in the morning is wonderful. With a fresh cup of coffee, delicious breakfast sandwich and homemade smoothie, I really enjoyed sitting in a sunbeam eating breakfast while reading the Wall Street journal (provided for free in the lobby).

The gym is well-done for such a small property. With several treadmills and a decent selection of free weights, the gym is perfect for a quick workout while on the go. There is plenty of space for yoga or stretching, too, and they have plenty if mats. Very, very clean gym.

The pool is small but nice, and it was hardly ever crowded during my stay. There are 2 cabanas and several beach chairs, and they provide towels. The outdoor patios moderately shaded by trees, and the have a gas grill for guest use, which was really great on the weekends when friends were visiting.

Overall, this hotel is a hidden gem in the quieter part of Vegas. I would recommend it to everyone, except maybe those with small children due to the sound issues within the hotel rooms.

The Element is a new concept hotel by the Westin that is sprouting in several cities. My first stay at an Element was in Las Vegas-and it is a welcome change to the typical Vegas hotel! It is not on the Strip, about 15 minutes away, but near the freeway in Summerlin on the 215 on the way to or from St George or Red Rock. It is smoke free, away the casinos and the craziness of the Strip, and if you're a pet lover-is pet friendly. Check in is fast and friendly-the lobby of the hotel doubles as the breakfast area. The design shows the green, sustainable theme of the hotel-clean lines, use of natural colors and green everywhere. We go to our room, a very nice surprise-the room has a full kitchen with a full refrigerator and stovetop, along with microwave, sink, coffee and plates and utensils! Their is also room for a working desk and a couch, and a flat screen TV. There is a full sized closet with a safe, ironing board and space for bags. The bathroom has a lot of counterspace, big shower with a rainforest showerhead, and dispensers for shampoo and bath gel which eliminates the use and throwaway of hundreds of little plastic bottles. I noticed the water from the toilet tank is very hot, and I wondered if that was because they used solar energy to use heating water in the building. The desert gets very hot in the summer, but the aircondition was adequate and at times can blow air right to you when you're sleeping if it is too strong or depending on where you are on the bed. The only other minor drawback is that the morning light maybe too bright because the shade is not tight to the window-this could be temporarily fixed by placing the lamp against it so that the light doesn't come in at all if you want to sleep in. The dispenser wasn't working properly but the technician came in right away to fix it. Lastly, the room could have been made a little bit bigger to accommodate the kitchen and the workdesk and TV where they could all fit in comfortably. Other than that-the hotel is excellent-the full breakfast, internet, parking is free; the gym is sizeable and there is also a nice pool with BBQ grills. Great value for families! The hotel is next to a gas station with a convenience store and strip malls so you can be set and ready if you're on a roadtrip to the national parks and monuments. If you're looking for Vegas action-gambling, drinking and parties, this is not your place-stay on the Strip.
But if you're traveling for business or with family and want to be away from the smoke, alcohol and craziness of the Strip, this hotel is a great alternative!

Room Tip: Ask for pool view and a top floor room if you are bothered by neighbor noise.

Green Features: This hotel is very eco friendly and uses a lot of sustainable initiatives.

It is a newish hotel. They seem to think of themselves as design oriented. In some ways they are. But as with many "modern" "design" orientations the designers do not or are not allowed by their managers to go to the trouble of experiencing their designs. So no one experienced what it was like to be in a room with paper thin walls with someone not unreasonably noisy next door. But my experience is they aren't my family and I don't want to experience what goes on in their family.

Something even more elementary is the sizing and selection of air-conditioning. Air conditioning is very important here in Las Vegas! But it is not required to have an air-conditioner that is very loud when the room is smallish. I must admit it is also probably the fault of the air-conditioner manufacturers to allow the fan speed to be adjustable depending on how far the desired temperature is from the current temperature. A rather simple concept, but I am not sure it is one that is used in the 21st century air conditioners. So engineering managers are probably at fault too!

Take home message: stay at your own risk. Rooms are nice but small. They are design oriented, which is at least amusing, and I find refreshing. Management is very nice and cooperative and helpful.

Great location--comfortable bed and room---lovely complimentary breakfast...the offerings were unique and healthy. Free Wi-Fi and more than enough space in my studio room. Friendly front desk staff. I would return here on a future business trip.
