“Not Impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Stayed here on friday July 5 because everything else on the strip was double or triple the price. I guess you get what you pay for. Check in was extremely slow, Elevators felt like they were going to fall apart and one elevator had a hole in it exposing all of the electrical components. Resort fees were about $20 or $25 a day, when I asked what the resort fees are for they told me for the internet and pool. I told them that I could not even connect to the internet and they said you have to plug it in....Really... This is 2013 in Las Vegas, the mecca of hotels, you would think that they would have wifi. When I told them this they said they were working on it. I understand resort fees but at least keep up with the other hotels in the area. We also spent about an hour driving around the Luxor parking lot looking for parking. It would be nice to at least have a designated parking area for your hotel guests. The hotel has lots of restaurants and plenty to do, I would just never stay here again. There is a lot better on the strip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Luxor. We were not too happy with the elevators and being on the 15th floor we had to grin and bear it ! The staff were all excellent and so happy to help. One suggestion would be to have sun umbrellas by the pool as we were there in extreme temperatures the sun did get a little bit much at times. Thanks to everyone for making our stay enjoyable.

Overall the Luxor Hotel is not one of the worse you'll find on the Strip, but it could be so much better with even just a tiny bit of thought. The rooms are fine, the cleaning is excellent and the reception staff were very helpful. There are TWO big problems:
1) The Food Court. To say that the service and staff are incompetant is an underestimation. Our experience of Nathan's meant that we only did it once - after half an hour of waiting we watched them get every single order wrong. They actually managed to overcook the wrong food and just stared blankly when customers tried to explain what they'd actually ordered: the guy couldn't even read the receipt in English. It was like dealing with Manuel from Faulty Towers. McDonalds managed to emulate Nathan's but with the added bonus of arguing back with customers. They even argued with Luxor staff whose breaks were ruined as they'd been waiting for their order for so long. There were people waiting 20 minutes for a soda. Every time someone complained - which was a lot - they then all had a good old [--] behind the desks in front of the other customers. They literally stood around moaning to each other while customers tried to get their attention. This RUINED the good service offered by the reception, concierge and casino staff and I have absolutely no idea why the Hotel Manager allows it. Apparently they get complaints all the time.
2) The pool. Any hotel situated in such a hot desert area which is so arrogant as to charge people to sit in the shade deserves to be boycotted. There were people passing out in 120 degrees worth of heat and they charge 70 dollars for a cushion on your sunbed and an umbrella. It's totally irresponsible and the very reason why we would never, ever return to this hotel. It's not worth it. Pay the extra and go to a hotel which gives a damn for your welfare.
Sort those two problems out and I'd say that it would be a sure repeat stay for us. I get the impression that the management really don't give a damn though, especially considering all the complaints the staff told us they receive about these two things. So we won't be returning to Luxor or any of the other MGM hotels. We urge you to pay the extra and go somnewhere else.

I have stayed at the Luxor a few times in the past and no what to expect. The room is nice (West Tower room) with nice bed, big bath, floor to ceiling window, nice TV, etc. No issues there at all (although it is a very long walk to the room).
When I arrived I checked in at the Invited Guest line and was "greeted" by Anna. She was in no mood to be at work that day! She was obviously upset up her last guest and couldn't seem to focus on helping me. THere was another gentleman Mike that was also checking in Invited Guests. He checked in 5 guests in the time it took Anna to help just me. Mike asked every guess if they would like a complimentary upgrade to a suite. Most agreed. When I asked Anna if I would be offered that she looked up over her glasses and said, "NO! Can't you tell we are sold out??!!" How would I know that??? She was rude, and slow as could be. She was more concerned about telling her next coworker about the previous guest than helping me. I just wanted to get to my room, so I shut up. I saw her the next day at the same Invited Guests line again. Why would you put this bitter, angry person at your Invited Guests line? Bad mistake and here I am commenting on it with TripAdvisor!

Anyway. Room was fine, casino was nice and clean. VERY VERY YOUNG crowd. Lot's of partying going on! But, there were also TONS of kids! Strollers everywhere. I even saw a guy playing the slots with his toddler on his lap. Nobody said a word! He was there for over 30 minutes!

Would I go back? If I have a free room, but the young party crowd (drunken) etc. and the kids and strollers everywhere? AND ANNA!!!???? I think I would choose somewhere else... sorry Luxor... you blew it!!

The Luxor is a nice hotel for its structure. The pyramid style is quite impressive, since the hall is completely open.
We upgraded to a suite corner room in the pyramid, but the room can't be really considered a suite, since it's small and doesn't have anything really special. The price for that suite is quite too high for the room. Furthermore the air conditioning system was so loud that we had to shut it off when sleeping and the room was not perfectly cleaned.
The overall impression is average, since in Las Vegas the standard is very high, therefore this hotel can't be compared to other like the Mirage or the Bellagio.
Very positive is the self check-out using the iPad in the hall. Very quick and let you save much time, since most of the guest do the check-out at the reception.

Room Tip: The rooms in the pyramid are particular for the inclined wall made of glasses and offer nice views...

Carparking is really bad. Not enough lots. Few covered. No separate parking for hotel stayers which i think they shld.

Room lighting is dim. Too many mirrors. Old n not fashionable. Crowded.

Will not be back.

It is a really nice place to stay
We arrived on Friday June 14th and expend the weekend there.
What i liked the most it was that even when we got the pyramid suit it was not noise at all while we were sleeping.
Other services i enjoyed was the pool the ladies from the pool bar were very helpfully, they were very kind and concentrated and help the customer supplying drinks and snack .
