My husband and I visited the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area on Oct. 8, 2009. Unfortunately, health problems kept us from taking on the hiking trails that day, but we enjoyed driving the 13-mile scenic drive and stopping at each pullout to admire and photograph the views. We did take the short, easy hike to view the petroglyphs (see photo). We also stopped at the Visitor Center/Gift Shop where there are friendly employees ready and willing to offer maps and guidance.

I love Red Rock. I have been there 2 times and my main reason for going back to Las Vegas this time was to hike at Red Rock. It is undisturbed nature at it's finest.

From the moment Neil picked us up at out hotel, our group (of three girls ion our early twenties, looking for something beyond shopping and gambling) knew we had made the right decision. /it was just our group - a great private tour for the price. It only takes 30 minutes to drive out to Red Rock, so unlike treks to the grand canyon, you don't spend ours in a tour bus - we spent the time actually hiking and exploring nature.

The views were amazing, and although we brought our own cameras, our guide Neil was sure to snap lots of pics and prepare a special CD of our memories. Neil was extremely professional and kind, customizing the route for us, and always offering a hand as we scaled what felt like sheer rock faces! He kindly put up with our chatter and jokes, and even advised us on local attractions and food options - yeah for "in and our burger"!

The adventure was certainly the highlight of our trip, and a great value - it lasted over 4 hours for less than $90 each. On the way home Neil drives you around the scenic loop, a great 13mile tour of the canyon, and allowed us to stop off for cheesy pictures as we wished.

We are already daydreaming about our next trip to Vegas and hike at Red Rock!

About 20 minutes very easy drive from the Strip you can recharge and see a spectacular natural attraction that will refresh your senses after all the glitz, glamour and lights of Vegas! Ony $5 per car you get some amazing beauty and great walking, hiking, rock climbing, bouldering and whaterver else you can think up to do here! We took some wonderful photos of this place while driving the 11 mile loop that takes you through several canyons and other diverse natural sights of Nevada. Not too crowded so you can get some wonderful photos without all the 'strangers' like some places you can visit. There were some impressive rock climbers we stopped and gauwked at, stunning scenery that we never knew existed in Nevada- in the evening when the sun starts to set you can only imagine the way it would reflect off the red rocks here! That's our next visit....
