We wanted to see something of old Las Vegas and were told we should not miss the Fremont Experience. The compactness of the Fremont area, particularly compared to the expansiveness of the Strip, was interesting. As well, the old style neon and flashing lights were a nice bit of camp nostalgia. Actually, camp would seem to be the only reason to go to Fremont unless your only interests are gambling, cheap drinks and cheap buffets. The Fremont Experience light show was a real disappointment. The advertising suggests that the show is about 10-15 minutes, but it is closer to five minutes and, given other multimedia at our disposal today, was underwhelming. The old Fremont hotels / casinos are interesting but the Fremont Experience adds little. Because we went at night, we chose to take a taxi rather than public transit. Cost from Signature to Fremont during rush hour about $22 plus tip, return about $18 plus tip.
