It really is a mixed bag at the Trump Las Vegas.
Good - Large Rooms, giant bathrooms, no casino, you can cross the street to a great mall, shuttles further into the strip, lots of great staff, lovely spa
Not so good - That train! Room starting to get a little run down, unknowledgeable concierge desk.
First impressions were very good, we were told at the desk that they were very busy and as they weren't able to put us on the same floor as other family members they 'upgraded' us to a corner suite. We got a lovely room ( a few things starting to need fixed, but I must admit I never got round to letting the desk know as they didn't really bother me). The only problem was having read reviews before initially booking I'd worked out that there was a noisy train and so had requested a strip view room and I think I'd also asked for a higher floor. We were given a corner suite but on the first accomodation floor (16). This meant that the train was very noticeable. Luckily my daughter and I aren't light sleepers however my husband suffered every night.
The spa was great and the few times we contacted housekeeping or room services everything was well done and prompt.
We were only really surprised/disappointed by the concierge desk. Another in our group told them that we were looking for a restaurant for a few adults and 3 children all under the age of 3. They made a booking for us at a noisy, dark sushi restaurant! It unfortunately was one of those situations (as those of you with experience of little children will know) that once you get them somewhere you're willing to give things a go rather than the prospect of wandering around with hungry children looking for alternatives. That was a mistake, but for a review on their trip advisor site!
The real disappointment was that the concierge didn't have a clue about a good few recommendations for different situations. I suspect she looked for a trendy restaurant, saw they accepted children (through after ordering drinks we found out they did nothing other than provide a high chair to accomodate them), and just booked us in. On return I went again to the desk as I didn't want any other people to go through the torment of hungry and uncomfortable children and mums. The original staff member was on the phone and so, rather than hang around with my 3 year old, spoke to her colleague. She was on the defensive straight away and seemed just keen to make out that she would never have made that mistake, made no attempt to apologise on behalf of the concierge desk and was attempting to act superior (though just coming off as plain rude). I went to the desk irritated and disappointed and left angry. In a strange way I almost felt bad for the original staff member as this woman made a bad recommendation by her worse and seemed more keen to use the situation to make out that she was a better concierge.
I'm likely to try somewhere else if in Vegas again. The mixed service experience rounded it down to Average score. If it weren't for friendly staff elsewhere it would definitely have been Poor.
Strip view on a high floor I think would be best!
