“A great introduction to Lake Tahoe geology and ecology”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

We had a couple of spare hours and decided to visit this place. We're both science geeks and nature lovers, and didn't expect to hear much we didn't already know, but we were pleasantly surprised. We happened to arrive just as a docent-led tour started -- it was well worth our time. The tour shared some great hands-on info about research conducted on the lake, and the 3D video about the geology of the Tahoe area displayed terrific graphics. The green design of the facility was impressive as well. We were both glad we came.

“Tahoe Environmental Research Center”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

The Tahoe Environmetal Research Center is an excellent place to learn about the Lake and its surrounding environment. The free tours, led by knowledgeable docents, are for all ages and provide in depth presentations of the Lakes' history, ecology, geology, and also the challenges facing the Lakes' clarity as well as what everyone can do to help restore clarity. . Also, a tour of the LEEDS platinum rated 42,000 square foot center is offered highlighting the "green features" of the buildng. The tours, typically lasting about 1-1/2 hours, can be tailored to the interests of any particular group. A "must see" attraction on your Lake Tahoe visit.

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

I travelled to the US from S. Africa and was told I really had to visit Lake Tahoe. It was beautiful but I could find out little about it's issues and what is being done till I came here. Bravo University of Davis! This is a must see center for any tourist. They have 3D movies and really knowledgable docents. I spent almost an hour there and would like to have spent longer

“If you really want to learn about Lake Tahoe!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2012

The docents there are fabulous and so knowledgeable. The 3D Movie has to be one of the coolest features and it truly give you an in-depth look at the lake, literally! I learned so much. The green building tour was also very informative, I think I'm going to start planting native plants in my yard. Screw grass!
