“Tons of space in a clean setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

If you want to be 30 minutes from the Vegas strip or you enjoy a water view, stay here. The rooms are huge--they are condo rentals--and clean. Unfortunately, there are no real services in the hotel.

The Lake Las Vegas development was impacted in the economic downturn and real estate crash. Many of the storefronts and shops are empty. The casino next door was small and depressing with no live table games. I played the quarter slots for 15 minutes and never hit more than a 50 cent win. Now those are some tight slots. Most of the machines were penny slots. Ugh...

There were high winds one of the days we were there so the lake was closed. High winds? We didn't feel a drop of air moving. Oh well. The pool was large and seemed to be clean but we didn't use it. Others in our group who did said it was nice.

Garage parking, while free and only self parking, is awkward with a very small area under the building. Lanes are narrow and it was difficult to get into many of the spaces. In addition, the garage was fairly dark and felt a little uncomfortable in the evening.

We stayed in a two bedroom suite with a balcony. It was spacious enough to really fit 6 people. There was a full kitchen and dining room and two bathrooms! The little balcony had a nice view of the lake and pool.

We parked our car and walked the rest of the time that we were there at Lake Las Vegas.

Room was spacious and really nice.
Pool was freezing - NOT heated!
The beds were decent - frankly we were so tired that we slept pretty good!

No room service or dining areas that I can remember but everything is just a short walk away to shops and wonderful restaurants! It also comes equipped with a full kitchen. Just pack the groceries before you get to Lake Las Vegas! There were no general stores in the area.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room with a balcony.

Whatever you see on their website isn't true. Those pictures were taken years ago. We even talked to the hotel/restaurant staff and they said it's been through 4 management companies in the past 2 years. Restaurant staff was quitting in front of us. We thought we were in the twilight zone! We went on Memorial Day weekend and they were booked...or so they say...even though it wasn't busy at all. Our bed broke just by sitting on the edge of it, when my husband called the front desk, they LAUGHED! The manager said "We're sorry, but we're booked so there is nothing we can do!" The restaurants were overpriced and not good. The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory was the best part, which was located in the village! Plus, there wasn't valet or a bellhop - and for the price we paid, there should've been more amenities! Also, the hot tub was closed due to repairs...on Memorial Day weekend!! Ridiculous!

We just returned from a combination business/relaxation getaway at the Aston MonteLago Resort. I am a travel agent and was with a group of other agents who were hosted by Aston ML. I have stayed at many condominium resorts throughout the world and was extremely happy with Aston!

The Village is as charming as they come...a little Italian Villagio right in the middle of the desert! We were there a week before the casino is scheduled to re-open, so will be excited to see the resort/village alive with activity this summer.

I was initially placed in the Viera Tower, but after a sight inspection, Paul Schow and Larry Anderson (GM's) were so gracious to move us to the Luna Di Lusso Tower, as the modern decor and studio views were much more to my liking. My husband joined me and had two highly relaxing days by the pool.

Our studio unit was beautifully decorated and had tons of amenities. We left the kids at home this trip, but both agreed that it would be a great getaway to bring them on, next time.

Thank you Larry, Paul and all the staff at the Aston MonteLago...We'll be back!

The place was very quiet which we enjoyed though it would have been nice to have had other children for our son to play with. The room was super clean (my pet peeve) and staff cleaned and made the bed (super comfortable!) each day. We had to ask for clean towels and the hotel didn't seem to have any washcloths. The room internet connection dragged at times but overall was good. We arrived first week of April and the HOA had decided not to heat the pool so it was too cold to use so we all ended up in the jacuzzi and small "warm" pool. Both were closed one day and construction was on-going for a few days with construction workers inside and out the building but at least they weren't too loud. The free shuttle to the strip was ideal even though we had rented a car for day trips. We loved having the kitchenette & grocery stores were nearby. We had a constant issue with our room cards getting demagnetized which was frustrating and I agree with the comments that the staff were young, inexperienced, not helpful and downright rude at times. We were told they were only called in on a "need be" basis. They did give us a small refund on resort fees due to the fact that pool couldn't be used and we could have gone to a neighboring resort to use one there. We'd take our chances and stay here again. The weather was ideal and overall we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Room overlooking Luna de Luttopool was ideal

We had a nice stay at this resort. However, the casino was closed so we had to go elsewhere for gambling and movie theater. The room was very clean, bed comfortable, it was quiet, and we enjoyed the fact that we had a kitchenette to make our coffee and prepare meals or snacks. I didn't care for the dogs close by our room, nor the fact that most of the shops and restaurants were closed. Staff was limited and hardly seen. Service is the one restaurant we found open was slow since there was just one waiter but, since we didn't utilize it but once, we really didn't care although some would. The food was well prepared and very good. Overall, since we don't care for crowds, we had a nice stay.

Thank you for your honest and candid review. We strive to offer the best accommodations and service. We did want to let you know that the Casino is re-opening on Thursday May 26, 2011 and that, along with the recent opening of the Ravella Hotel in the Village, should bring more traffic to the area. With that will bring shop openings and activities in the Village. It has been a rough few years for the Lake Las Vegas area due to the economy, but you can see the signs of recovery everywhere. We hope that you will revisit our resort some day in the future.

We arrived for a 7 nights stay in Viera at Montelago ready to buy an apartment whilst there, but how disappointed we were. This was our 4th visit but nowhere near a perfect as our previous visits. The management has changed and young, unprofessional staff appear to have been left in charge. Unfortunately, the apartment we had requested from our previous stays was no longer available ( I had requested this on booking) and they struggled to find us another suitable one - not that the place was anywhere near fully booked. We were told there was no one from Housekeeping on duty to sort rooms out for us. We settled for an apartment near our first choice if we moved on the second day. On the first night we had to put up with barking dogs across the corridor. For the first 5 days we received no Housekeeping whatsoever - when I asked at reception they said their had been a 'glitch' and they'd sort it the next day. As a gesture we were sent some clean towels and they removed some of the refuse in the bins. The next day they took the clean fluffy towels away! The Village itself was also very different, empty shops, broken blinds, damaged buildings, shabby restaurant chairs and obvious wear and tear everywhere. The Lake itself looked dirty and a damaged stage with shabby blue cloth had been left out looking such an eyesore for anyone wanting to dine at the lakes edge. The Ravelo hotel had opened in place of the Ritz Carlton and the Casino was due to re open shortly but the village still needed a full facelift to bring it back to life. We could have put up with this but the management and staff didn't help at all. Such a shame. When we checked out we weren't even asked if we had enjoyed our stay - there was such a lack of customer service. We shall go back in the future out of curiosity - Aston are not a patch on the previous management who were so professional and went out of their way to make their guests welcome. We paid a hight rate for a weeks stay and wished we had gone back to Green Valley Ranch that was far better value - without the lake. Such a shame we decided not to invest in an apartment here.
