“Very Nice Hotel, Lake View...Not So Much”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My wife and I wanted a night away from the kids, so we decided to come out to Lake Las Vegas and get a room for a night. We stopped by all 3 hotels and walked around the grounds. The Westin looked very nice but was away from The Village (shops, restaurants, casino, etc), and we wanted to be within walking distance of these things since we didn't plan on getting in the car once we got there. This left us with two options: Aston Montelago and Ravella.

Aston Montelago isn't really a hotel, it's condos that people live in and the empty ones get rented out. There wasn't a whole lot to look at in the lobby but the staff was nice. However, since we were there on a Friday afternoon without a reservation (we like to just wing it), they were all booked up due to a marathon in the area.

So, we went by the Ravella they had rooms available for a reasonable price, so we booked our one-night stay. The staff was very friendly and gave us a Lake View room with a King Size bed. We found our way up to our room (it's a bit confusing to find the north elevators) and popped open a bottle of champagne.

The room itself was average but the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice, larger than normal for a typical hotel room. It had a bath tub, separate shower, two sinks, and of course, the commode.

We also had a balcony but it was tiny (only the width of the French doors). The view of the lake was…well…underwhelming. The lake looked more like a big puddle of mud, and we didn’t leave the balcony doors open when we left the room or slept because there quite a few gnats flying around outside. I actually thought about seeing if they had any rooms on the other side of the hallway, facing the hotel grounds, but since we were only there for one night, we decided to stay put.

The Ravella is connected to Casino Montelago, and the 4th story of the parking garage, which makes it easy to walk about the area. The casino doesn’t have any tables, only machines and a bar/restaurant. There are several places to eat and a few shops left in The Village, but many of the retail spaces are empty.

You get the feeling when staying here that it was probably vary happening back when the economy was strong, but the downturn has definitely taken its toll on the area. Despite the Aston being sold out and the wedding party at the Ravella, The Village was still pretty empty for a Friday night.

All in all, my wife and I had a great time and a much needed night out alone. We definitely plan on coming back as it’s only a 30 minute drive from home. I’d definitely stay at Ravella again but will probably try a different room, since the lake view is not all it’s cracked up to be.

Room Tip: The Lake-View isn't that great.

I booked a night at the Ravella through the travelzoo offer for $99. I thought the deal was a great find: $99 for a night, w/ free valet parking and $50 resort credit (which we used to cover breakfast), plus two very delicious welcome cocktails.

My girlfriend and I wanted a weekend away from LA so we traveled over to Ravella, and then the next day on to Zion National Park. Our stay at Ravella was great. I was wary beforehand after reading some negative reviews on here and on yelp, but honestly we both had a great time. The property looked nice, and most importantly - my girlfriend was impressed. We went over to the village at night and ate at a fantastic Italian restaurant right on the water while listening to live music (which apparently they typically have on Friday and Saturday nights).

I will readily admit that the property does have some dings, if you look close enough. The village was much more enjoyable at night, with the evening atmosphere, the strewn lights, and the live music (during the day it wasn't as charming). The dead golf course outside the property was an eye-sore on the way out. But all of these things aside, if you're coming for a nice evening away for a great price - this really was a fantastic experience. We both said we would gladly come back again. I was so pleased the experience was so positive, as I mentioned above, especially after reading some negative reviews. I think maybe some people are just too picky.

My recommendation: come here for a night or two with your partner. You'll have a nice time. (and grab a travelzoo deal at that, if you can, makes it that much better).

Room Tip: Stay in the rooms above the lobby area if you can. Getting to your room will be much quicker and it...

First impression, NOT IMPRESSED. When we checked in, the Front Desk wasn't very friendly. The clerk seemed like we were bothering her. She could have been having a bad night but this is your job. My husband asked about upgrading the room to a suite. We were curtly told they were all spoken for, I understand that but how about offering us another option. Then we go to our room and find it is the last room on the garden side so you think garden right, wrong, our view is of the retainer wall and bushes, no garden. I felt like we had been punished for asking for an upgrade. My husband and I travel alot and customer service is everything to us. The old saying goes " You only get one chance to make a good first impression".

Room Tip: If you stay here make sure you ask for 3rd floor or above and ask for a balcony.

Awesome property! We had a room over the lake. beautiful view of the lake, marina and village. Totally felt transformed to another part of the country even though we were close to Las Vegas! We felt like we were treated royally from checkin to checkout. Wish we could have stayed longer. Only negative thing I felt was the lack of choices on the menu for dinner.

Room Tip: Would definitely recommend a room over the lake for the view but all the rooms looked like they woul...

We were so suprised to find such a fantastic place with so many amenities. The room was spacious and comfy. The bath was large, the towels like cotton. The staff was very courteous and helpful. There is a garden to sit and relax or pick a balcony spot. Shopping and restaurants were right out the rear door. A small casino on the premise if you choose to try you luck and a sports bar as well. We enjoyed the pool and made use of the quiet time together. So easy on the wallet for such an inpeccably splendid resort. You won't be disappointed. We were very close to the Hoover Dam and also to Las Vegas.

I have known about Lake Las Vegas for many years but have never thought about booking a vacation there. I can't recommend Ravella Resort enough. The staff are consumate professionals, helpful and understand the meaning of hospitality. We had a few hiccups with our reservation and it was corrected immediately. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. Everywhere you looked the views were spectacular and the village offered great dining and nightlife. If you haven't been to Lake Las Vegas.. GO! Be prepared for a more mature vacation.. this is not Las Vegas. Guy Tay at the Firenze Lounge will treat you to a special cocktail the "Razzel Ravella" to welcome you to the hotel.
If you golf and can afford the Green Fees... try the Southshores Golf Course. Unbelieveable golf course with views that are breathtaking at every teebox and green! The hotel will provide you transportation to and from the hotel.

Room Tip: Great Views on the North West side...
