“Nice hotel but shame about the religious convention”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013 via mobile

This was a nice hotel which we chose as a relaxing venue from the madness of Vegas. We found the staff very helpful, the beds comfortable. The free shuttle service to the Las Vegas westin was very useful and save lots of money and hassle. We did not eat at the hotel but used the free shuttle service to the village where the Irish bar did excellent food.
The effects of the recession cab be see clearly as the golf course next to the hotel was closed and all the fairways had dead grass which was a shame.
The big let down in the hotel was the very large, noisy, badly behaved , bad mannered religious convention which was there. The children ran riot in all areas of the hotel throwing food all over the corridors and playing ball in the reception areas. It's was more like a buntlins than a westin!! We did feel very sorry for the hotel staff .
It was this that lead to our rating not the actual hotel itself

Like others have shared, the rooms are very average. Room and hallway color schemes are poorly served by the cheap CFL lighting installed everywhere. While I wouldn't have called the room dirty, it's clear it was overdue for a deep cleaning.

Negatives aside, the service was excellent and pool and beach areas were very nice. Night time overlooking the lake by fireside was very relaxing and romantic. Though I was concerned it may be over-hyped the restaurant "Marssa" was outstanding, well worth the price.

This a slow-paced, wonderful place for a relaxing, way-off-strip experience. Based on the rooms alone, I would have given 3 stars. But staff and amenities earned an extra star. Would drfinitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room.

I have spent the last 8 days at this hotel. You name it, it was not done properly or not done at all. This is not a Westin quality hotel. If you plan on coming, go to a different hotel and I am a Starwood gold member
Here is just a short list of the issues I had at this hotel.
1-check in took over 8 hours to get our hotel room
2-we ordered a rollaway and when we finally went to our room, there was no rollawy until 11pm
3-when we finally got to the room, the room was dirty. they did not even clean the toiilet seats
4-Over our 8 days at the hotel, they did not replace the shampoo.
5-They never put body wash in our room. When we asked the hotel staff why, they told us that only the top two floors get body wash
6-on most days when they cleaned the room, they did not fully clean, did not remove the trash or replace towels. We had to run around looking for staff to get clean towels.
7-they run out of towels at the pool. for over 3 hours in the middle of the day, they did not have towels.
this is just not a normal hotel. Stay away. go to a normal hotel.

Rooms: We used extra points to book an upgraded pool view room based on previous reviews. We arrived at midday,by 6pm we were told they only had a parking lot view room. Room was more like a motel room. We asked for a move the next day as the plug in the bath did not work, there was hair all over the bathroom and a partly drunk water bottle in the room. We got a lake view room. It looks like about 1 in every 2 or 3 pool/lake view rooms has a regular window rather than a full length window with Juliette balcony. I don't think the regular window is worth the upgrade. Beds are hard. This is the 5th westin resort we have stayed in and the only one without the sweet sleeper beds, and our least favorite so far.

The foyer and pools are very nice, if a bit of a mess with the stuff people leave behind not being picked up. Pool was warm enough during spring break to swim in, but not to want to stay in it for too long. Our kids loved the free kayaks. Ricks cafe food is mediocre. We had the burger and flatbread (flatbread was soggy). Breakfast was ok. There is a pretty pedestrian area a few minutes drive away, but it is a shame to see the effect of the recession as about 2/3rds of the restaurants and shops are closed. Other than that the area of henderson close by does not look safe and we had to drive 20 minutes to find a good restaurant. Did not try the food from the coffee shop but the coffee was very good and staff nice.

I think after this we may explore another hotel reward points credit card as we don't expect to get a downgraded room from what we booked as a gold member.

Upon arrival you will be impressed, but rooms are average and a bit dingy and the view of the lake meant keeping the window closed because of stagnant smell. Service was acceptable but don't expect any special treatment or attention. They do their jobs, nothing more.

Room Tip: I was "upgraded" to a room with 2 double beds and a "view of the lake". The roo...

This is a beautiful property. I was in awe of the property from the time I walked through the front doors. The ambiance is wonderful, the customer service is 5-star, the beds are ultra comfy, and the views are gorgeous. There are plenty of activities to do both at the property as well as the Village at Lake Las Vegas which is just a few minutes away. It may be a little bit pricey for those that are very budget-conscience when traveling but well worth it. I would highly recommend this hotel especially if you want a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the pools or beach/lake.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful a great get away....However the Front Desk staff is NOT accomodating!!! the worst service ever from a hotel as beautiful as this. We were very disapointed in the service and Management(except for the night time gal Amanda she was or should i say tried to be as helpful as possible under the circumstances & Maria) .....The worst part is they have a line employee call you before the Supervisors do. And Front office Manger does not respond in a timely manner( even when a message was left saying please call guest ASAP)....The positive part was Amber (mgr)& Chelsea from the pool (Food & Beverage) gals were awesome!

Not sure if any of the front desk has taken the training on guest services if not they really need to go. as for the Management team take a course on what Starwood preaches.....Coach Management it a start.......You can also find help on Best Practices on StarwoodOne.
