“Nice hotel except for the rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

Rooms: We used extra points to book an upgraded pool view room based on previous reviews. We arrived at midday,by 6pm we were told they only had a parking lot view room. Room was more like a motel room. We asked for a move the next day as the plug in the bath did not work, there was hair all over the bathroom and a partly drunk water bottle in the room. We got a lake view room. It looks like about 1 in every 2 or 3 pool/lake view rooms has a regular window rather than a full length window with Juliette balcony. I don't think the regular window is worth the upgrade. Beds are hard. This is the 5th westin resort we have stayed in and the only one without the sweet sleeper beds, and our least favorite so far.

The foyer and pools are very nice, if a bit of a mess with the stuff people leave behind not being picked up. Pool was warm enough during spring break to swim in, but not to want to stay in it for too long. Our kids loved the free kayaks. Ricks cafe food is mediocre. We had the burger and flatbread (flatbread was soggy). Breakfast was ok. There is a pretty pedestrian area a few minutes drive away, but it is a shame to see the effect of the recession as about 2/3rds of the restaurants and shops are closed. Other than that the area of henderson close by does not look safe and we had to drive 20 minutes to find a good restaurant. Did not try the food from the coffee shop but the coffee was very good and staff nice.

I think after this we may explore another hotel reward points credit card as we don't expect to get a downgraded room from what we booked as a gold member.

Upon arrival you will be impressed, but rooms are average and a bit dingy and the view of the lake meant keeping the window closed because of stagnant smell. Service was acceptable but don't expect any special treatment or attention. They do their jobs, nothing more.

Room Tip: I was "upgraded" to a room with 2 double beds and a "view of the lake". The roo...

This is a beautiful property. I was in awe of the property from the time I walked through the front doors. The ambiance is wonderful, the customer service is 5-star, the beds are ultra comfy, and the views are gorgeous. There are plenty of activities to do both at the property as well as the Village at Lake Las Vegas which is just a few minutes away. It may be a little bit pricey for those that are very budget-conscience when traveling but well worth it. I would highly recommend this hotel especially if you want a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the pools or beach/lake.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful a great get away....However the Front Desk staff is NOT accomodating!!! the worst service ever from a hotel as beautiful as this. We were very disapointed in the service and Management(except for the night time gal Amanda she was or should i say tried to be as helpful as possible under the circumstances & Maria) .....The worst part is they have a line employee call you before the Supervisors do. And Front office Manger does not respond in a timely manner( even when a message was left saying please call guest ASAP)....The positive part was Amber (mgr)& Chelsea from the pool (Food & Beverage) gals were awesome!

Not sure if any of the front desk has taken the training on guest services if not they really need to go. as for the Management team take a course on what Starwood preaches.....Coach Management it a start.......You can also find help on Best Practices on StarwoodOne.

Wonderful staff, gorgeous room! Pet friendly to boot! arrived very late at night and staff were so friendly and helpful (we have a recouperating dog) and they even got the room service lady to talk over the menu and recommend food! Wow. We were exhausted and this was the best welcome we could have had. So recommend this hotel to people looking to see vegas without being IN vegas!

Room Tip: Dog friendly, staff put us lower floor. Awesome!!! Loved it. Will return!!

I had a Delta voucher that was about to expire, so took off for two days in sunny Lake Las Vegas. I intentionally chose this property as I was looking for a quiet place where I could soak up warmth and sun, and this fit the bill perfectly. My room was comfortable and had a lovely view over the "adult" pool (which unfortunately was closed for maintenance this weekend) and mountains. The property certainly had the level of quality I expect from a Westin--the design of the public spaces in particular are stunning. The outdoor spaces were lovely, if a little cramped because of the one pool being closed--but the kids were having a blast at the pool and the beach, and I was able to find a spot to claim both days without too much trouble.

I ate at both restaurants and had poolside service. The more casual restaurant, Rick's Cafe, was really quite good (I had a great burger one day and tasty flatbread the next); I was less impressed with poolside service when it took 30 minutes to get a diet coke and then another 30 for the bill to arrive. (I didn't order again after that experience, but the guys next to me the following day were complaining about the same thing.) All in all, I'd definitely recommend for a trip to Vegas without really being IN Vegas.

It's too bad the golf course isnt open. But the hotel is a lovely and quiet escape from Vegas. The grounds and pools are great, there was no charge to take out kayak's etc. the hotel is clean, quiet and smoke free. For us as a family, it provided a great alternative. An easy drive into Vegas to shop and find some great restaurants then a short trip back to a comfortable and quiet room. Staff is all very friendly and helpful.

If you have a family and want to dabble in Vegas this is a perfect headquarters.

Room Tip: all the rooms are the same. We paid for a premium room, only to find the differnce is ONLY the floo...
