“Too far from the strip for a first trip to Las Vegas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

I came here for a conference, located at the M itself. It's a spacious, beautiful complex. The room was very chic. I loved the motorized window shades. There are several restaurants with a nice variety. In particular, the wine bar was unlike anything I have ever seen. You purchase what is essentially a debit card from the bartender, then take your glass to your choice of at least 100 (give or take) individual wine bottles for wine. You can choose from 3 different-size pours of wine. Just insert the debit card, and choose how much to fill your glass. There was a nice selection of food at the wine bar, too. The price for the wine was not cheap, but we came to realize that Vegas is not cheap, either. My only complaint is the distance of the M from everything else in Vegas. It is a $50 cab ride each way. The gambling facilities at the M seemed quite comprehensive, so if your main goal is to have a great room, with easy access to gambling and in-hotel dining options...you'll probably like the M.

The rooms are by far the best in the Vegas area for the money. The view is outstanding and if your there in the warm season the pool is outstanding. The rooms are always very clean and never a noise problem. You can find every kind of food at each restaurant and you will not find a better buffet anywhere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over- looking the city

This was the second resort on this trip to Vegas. We decided to mix it up by staying in an off-strip property after staying at the Wynn. Since we had a car this was a good option. The M is in Henderson, about 10 miles north of Mandalay Bay and directly off the I-15 interstate.

The room was a typically sized hotel room. There was a window between the bathtub and the room, ostensibly to look at the view out the room window - but it came with an electric shade if you are staying with family. The room colors were dark, as a matter of fact the room felt very dark. There was plenty of lighting, it just felt dark and a little somber. The side chairs were really bad - stiff and almost impossible to move because they were so heavy. The view was of some desert-like land, so nothing you'd want to gaze at for any period of time.

The bathroom counter space was great as were the number of towels provided. There was also ample storage space if needed.

The first room we were assigned had a connecting door to the room next door. We could hear the people next door as if they were in the same room. The front desk was quick to move us when we requested. I am on the M Resort's mailing list and received a special anniversary rate of $106 the first night and $115 the second night. This was for a two bedded room.

We only dined at one outlet at the hotel, the deli at the sportsbook. It was fine.

Room Tip: Were in 727 - it did not have a connecting door

Just returned from my second stay at the M...and again, it did not disappoint! Love the casino, restaurants, rooms. If you have been to Vegas and want to get away from the strip, this is a great option. However, you will need a rental car. $50 cab rides can add up.

Room Tip: spring for a room with a view of the strip. At night, one of the best around.

I must start this review by stating this is not a good property to consider for first time Vegas visitors or for someone without a rental car. We've gone to Vegas for many years and tire of the tourists, traffic, and noise of the strip, so this is a perfect option for us!
We had a standard room, but the accomodations were much nicer than many strip property hotel rooms we've had and appreciated the staff for booking us in a room that faced north toward the strip. Because the property sits so far south, we had an excellent panoramic view of the city. We've gone to the M every trip since it opened, because we love the buffet, casino, and staff (there is also an excellent pool area although we've never used that amenity yet).
The room had a huge King sized bed, 2 chairs and table, sitting chair by the bathroom, full size closet, and the decore was earthy and dark woods which made it soothing and restful to us. The bathroom had 2 sinks, a huge walk-in shower, large jetted tub, and the toilet was in a separate closet which was nice for privacy. There was also a nice area at the entrance to the bathroom to hang more clothes. It was interesting to us that there was also an energy saving system where we would put a key in the slot when we walked into the room to turn the lights on and pulled it out at night to turn the lights off. The other thing my husband liked was the tile/slate in the bathroom that looked glossy but wasn't slick so no worries about slipping and falling after getting out of the shower.
The Hostile Grape is fun since they have wine tastings every day, and it is a beautiful wine cellar and sitting area, there are several restaurants that were busy while we were there, but we just visited the buffet since we both can get what we want, and we also enjoy sitting in the north part of the room to see a wonderful view of the strip.
If you have questions about something I forgot to address, please feel free to send me a message, because this property is one to consider if you want to be away from the strip and enjoy luxurious accomodations!

Room Tip: Ask for a north facing room to have an excellent view of the city!

This is a very nice place with a friendly, very professional staff. Didn't make it to the buffet, but the Hash House and Baby Cakes are both excellent establishments. The rooms were roomy with super comfy beds.... and one could take a bath and enjoy a spectacular desert view! The Casino was impressive, but since I've never been a gambler, it got me for not a penny! A major disappointment was the long distance (a $40 cab ride) to the strip, (also $40 to go to and fro the airport) ...and there was also the fact that this hotel offers absolutely nothing to do for kids. OK, I realize Vegas isn't for children, but we happen to have been there for the Ben & Jerry's Annual Franchise meeting and we had three kids in tow. There was an amazing pool on the property, but apparently it's only open to guests during the summer months. The spa is nice, but very expensive. All in all, if you have a car, (we did not), and no kids to entertain, this place is a good alternative; I, personally, would have opted to stay in a more family oriented place nearer to the action...

First time at M and loved it! Dined at Anthony's, Oyster Bar, Marinelli's, Baby Cakes and Hash House - all excellent meals with great customer service. Upgraded to a beautiful strip/pool view, however it could be noisy during a pool event. Cocktail service on the floor was a bit slow.

For nearby fun the Lion Habitat Ranch (aka The Cat House) is approx 1 mile away in Henderson. These are the former MGM Grand Hotel lions and the facility opened to the public Dec 2012. The facility is immaculate and currently has 40 lions and 7 cubs. Offering cub interactions, trainer for a day, private tours, etc. Admission is $20/adult with one free child (interactions extra $). Great fun & a wealth of lion education for adults & children.
