“Really nice place to eat and stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012

The staff is incredibly friendly! We were on a motorcycle tour and had reserved a room based on Trip Adviser's recommendations and found this to be an excellent place. The rooms were large and modern, large flat screen TV, wifi, mattresses that had to be new ones (super comfy) and tons of pillows. Clean, nice shower with shampoo, conditioner, and other amenities to make the stay even nicer. We ate in their restaurant twice and the meals were excellent, large portions, moderately priced, and superb service. There is a small gamin parlor and I spent hours there with a $20 bill having a great time. Loose slots, yes, but I did end up donating my $20 after considerable playing time. Our motorcycles were parked by the front office in a special space and nothing was disturbed. Very nice addition to the rest of the place. Do yourself a favor and stay here next time. Inexpensive rooms at $79 a night was a definite plus also, nearly forgot to mention that one, with a lovely pool to swim in and a jacuzzi fi you like those.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms are the best.

A small group of us arriving in town on motorcycles at the end of a freak snow storm. We were told about this hotel (just a mile or so off of Hwy. 50.....our travel route) and decided to go have a look.

We were pleasantly surprised as we've all come to expect less in Ely and usually pass right on through. Modern hotel, restaurant and lounge with small casino. The rooms, pool and hot tub were the best surprise at this lodging......all above par and very welcomed.

No breakfast (nor continental breakfast) but that was fine with us as we usually opt out of the continental and stop for breakfast each morning somewhere along our route. In this case, we all had a full breakfast in the hotel's restaurant.

This place would really be ideal in the winter months as everything is under one roof. They also have a small casino of slots.

I stay here a LOT when I am working in Nevada, and I really enjoy it. The rooms are clean, the beds are very comfortable and have lots of pillows, and the staff is all extremely nice. Big LCD televisions too. Having a bar and restaurant downstairs is convenient, when you just don't feel like going anywhere. One occasional drawback, there is a casino (slots mainly) in the lobby, so people do sit there and smoke, so sometimes there is a smoke smell when you walk through there, but it is never very bad, and the rooms never smell like smoke (even if you get a smoking room). I saw one review saying the room was 'marginally clean and smelled like smoke"...I have been here at least a dozen times over the past year and a half, staying 1-3 weeks at a time, and have never had any issues at all.

It is not the Ritz Carlton, but it is really a great place, and I would say it is probably the best place to stay in Ely.

Room Tip: No elevator (only 2 stories), so if you have a ton of luggage or bad knees, ask for the first floor.

Elaine at front desk very nice and helpful.
Room supposed to be non-smoking but totally smelled like smoke. Elaine offered to move us, but we had already unpacked.
Room was marginally cleaned. Stained carpets. Dusty tables. Springs in bed would "pop", or was haunted.
Will try motel 6 next time.

We were traveling by motorcycle and we stopped in this tiny high desert town of Ely, Nevada and found the Prospector Hotel. The hotel was beautiful and clean. The restaurant on the premises served very good meals with good service. I was expecting a much higher price but was pleasantly surprised with the low price for the room. The clerk at the desk invited us to park our motorcycles in the front of the building beneath the covered entrance where the staff could keep an eye on the bikes. Thank you for that service.

Me and my family just stayed at this place. Not bad for the money, clean rooms. Somewhat was hard to find the room, but was partly my fault...

We stopped here on a driving trip to Arizona. It was full the night we stayed except for a pet friendly room. We took the room, and I must say it was very nice! It has all sorts of dog oriented decorations including a big dog bed!. Everything was spotless in this room, there was no animal smell, and the room was huge! I belive all the pet friendly rooms were on the first floor. We never even heard any of the animals, but saw people walking their dogs, so knew there were some staying in the hotel. This room had everything we needed. We would stay here again.
We did eat in the restuarant. the downside was that the service was very slow. The waitress told us there was only one cook that day. Everyone had to wait. The food was good. There is a small casino here with about 100 machines, so it was entertaining also.
A nice hotel, very friendly hotel staff.
