First, let me say that I do a fair amount of travelling and have stayed in various places (very bad to very good). I tend to rely on chain companies -vs.- Mom & Pop establishments. I have to say that the only positive remark I can make would be in reference to the evening desk clerk and the morning clerk. Bright Smiles, great attitudes, professional in appearance and skill. After that it is all down hill. Reservation, check-in, and check-out were all seamless.
The property is old, dated, and hasn't had a renovation/remodeling in what appears to be a very long time.
I am on the lookout for things that some may overlook. IE: Total absence of any outside security lighting, parking lot was littered with various trash. The interior of the hotel had an obvious odor of stale smoke near the non-smoking floor along with a musty mildew like smell throughout the hallways.
The room was an appropriate size for a 1 night stay. The outside noise was easily detected due to thin outer walls. The interior walls muffled the surrounding rooms and hallway noise in adequate fashion, but, was still made for less-than-restful conditions.
Due to the outside mild temperatures, the room's climate was fine and did not require AC/Heather use. A good thing because looking at the overall condition of the interior mounted and long outdated equipment, I am sure it would have sounded like a jumbo jet on takeoff.
The carpeting was far from clean and a 3 inch band was on the floor from all carpeted flooring to the wall - a clear indicator of where the vacuum doesn't reach. No one takes the time to clean that up and it look dreadful. The carpeting was also worn and had 3-4 spots that were a clear and present danger to anyone with limited mobility problems (trip hazard). Another trip hazard was the lack of securing cords for lamps, television, phone, etc. The person that painted the room was very sloppy about their work. The paint had splattered on the table, carpet, television, etc.
The bathroom was tiny, but, functional. I am always looking for mold. While none was detected, I did not that the shower's caulking was missing in a few areas and cracking badly in others. I shudder to think what the wall behind the shower insert would have looked like. EWWWW
An even stronger mustier odor was in the room.
The bed was adequate. The mattress and pillows were ok, nothing to brag about. Also very dated.
The television was obviously a late 90's to early 2000's model. One more indicator that the owner/manager is not interested in investing in the property.
My advice to you would be to keep looking for a place to stay. Save your time and money.
