Had reserved a room at this hotel online, because my daughter & I were going to NV for a family reunion. This was in August during Hot August Nights, so we wanted to make sure we had a room, everywhere was booking up as this was a last minute trip. When we arrived, they would not let us use the bellcart unless they took it out, because of theft! Should have been our first warning. The elevator stunk of alcohol and cigarette smoke and the hallway of the floor we were on smelled even worse; there was a housekeeping cart filled with garbage.
It was hot, 100 degrees, so we were tired and tried to take a nap. Our room was right above a power plant. My daughter noticed that the door to the room didn't shut all the way! I tried to take a shower, but couldn't turn the faucet on. My daughter tried and couldn't either, she's 18 so not a small child. We called the front desk & they sent a maintenance guy up. He said it's always like that & he would turn it on for us any time, day or night, & then come back to turn it off! He said they couldn't fix it unless they turned off the water to the entire building.When water was on, the force of it almost knocked me over. Really creepy maintenance guy, following us in and out of room and bathroom! And we are 2 females traveling alone, me with health problems. I kept talking with the front desk, but they are not helpful, just saying they are all booked up and can't move us. I thought everywhere must be booked up, drove around stopping at every hotel/motel. Finally stopped at Holiday Inn @ north end of Carson City, and the gentleman there gave us a great rate. I was worried I would lose that room while trying to get out of Best Western, but he was so concerned, he held the room for us. He said they hear thingsall the time about that Best Western and did not think it was safe for us to stay there. We went back to BW to try to get a refund and the ladies didn't really know what to do, they kept saying that they had no other rooms and the manager wasn't there so they didn't know what to do! Finally they reversed our charge. When we got back to the Holiday Inn Express, he had held the room for us and having heard us say that we were going to a family reunion in Minden, he had already called the Holiday Inn in Minden and held a room for us there at a great rate - I had looked online before our trip and they had been all booked up - so Thank You Holiday Inn!
Not sure I will ever go to another Best Western again. I can't imagine anyone giving this place a positive review.
