5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2007

I love this hotel. The pool was ice cold and the a/c was not continuous, though it was nicer than a standard Holiday Inn.

King Smoking Suite was well appointed with bar sink, fridge, microwave and 27" TV. Spacious room with good A/C. This Holiday Inn Express has the upgraded bedding that's pretty nice. However, even though you have a choice of pillows, they are still too puffy for me. I like a flatter pillow. Still, better than most hotels.

The high-speed internet in my room worked perfectly. Fast and connected every time. No dropped connections.

Water pressure in the shower was a bit low but the design of the shower head compensates well enough.

This hotel is sort of secluded at its location on Carson St. Not too many eating choices in easy walking distance; but, certianly plenty within a short drive. A huge 24-hour Wal-mart is less than 10 minutes away where you can get groceries and other stuff.

The window opens all the way which I like; but, the road noise outside is pretty loud. High winds when I was there howled around the building. Spooky but kind of cool too.

Overall, nice stay. I would recommend this hotel to others. There is also a fairly new Hampton Inn & Suites just down the street that looks pretty nice.

This is a new, 2 year old, HIX located at the far north end of Carson City. The motel is very clean and very inviting. The front desk clerk needs a little education in being frendly. She was very defensive and cold in answers to our questions. The room was of adequate size with two queen beds, very comfortable, and a small work table with chair. The bathroom and sink was in separate room. The room was very clean. Our room, #133, was facing south and highway noise was not a problem. The breakfast menu had both hot and cold items. The breakfast area had 5 or 6 tables and the food counter was rather small and got very crowded around 7:45 to 8:15. The breakfast selection was more than adequate. The outside appearance was very inviting with a large parking area in the back. Parking stalls were of a normal size. The majority of the restaurants and casinos of the town are located 5 or 6 miles south of the motel in the center or south of the town. One downside on our stay was the "No refund if cancelled or changed". We made the guarantee reservation on the HI website a month prior to our stay. Luckly everything work out and we were able to make out reservation date.

I read the Trip Advisor comments after returning from our vacation and was surprised at the warnings listed for this hotel. Fortunately, we did not have one negative experience and were quite pleased to have found a new, modern accommodation in a town filled with old, seedy ones. We did not make advanced registrations; rather, after driving around Carson City early Thursday morning and rejecting six motels/hotels on sight, we walked into Holiday Inn Express and immediately received a room with two Queen beds for three adults. The price, with tax was $98.01. A continental breakfast included eggs, cereals, bagels, toast, hot cinnamon buns, juices, fruit, etc. There was more than enough for anyone to choose from. An attendant kept everything stocked and the area clean. We stayed on an upper floor that faced the major route going north to Reno. If you do book a room here, ask for one facing the back lot. Although the scenery of the mountains was great, hearing the trucks roaring by all night was a little disturbing. Other than that, our counter service was excellent, efficient, and most pleasing. (Perhaps, they fired the old Staff!) We had no trouble at all and based on "our" experience, would most likely stay there again.

  • Liked — Modern, breakfast included, near Interstate, location to Carson City
  • Disliked — Traffic noise in a room facing Interstate
  • Tips/Secrets — Stay in room facing the back or side

We had booked a one night stay on the Holiday Inn central reservations website, and took care to print out the reservation confirmation with our rate clearly indicated.
What a joke. The front desk clerk and female manager on duty were rude, refusing to honor the rate, claiming it was a mistake. Not only were they rude, but they refused to let us use the house phone to call Holiday Inn Guest Services hotline for help!!
We finally contacted Guest Services on our own, and managed to get our reservation transferred to the Holiday Inn express in South Lake Tahoe.
If you want to contend with rude Indian owners, who will cheerfully insult you and your mother, then this is the place for you!!!

Straight to the point: Great stay, good service, clean rooms, and a fun time. I've never really had a bad experience at any holiday inn (yet) and this one didn't disappoint us.

The room was very clean, and there was a microwave, which most places don't seem to have nowadays (non holiday inn's that we've been to at least).

The staff was pretty friendly, and the breakfast wasn't bad either. Although you can't quite go wrong with cereal!

It's safe to say that we'd probably stay here again if we were to visit the carson city area.

I was thrilled to see Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn coming to Carson city. The no-tell motels in this town leave a lot to be desired. Usually when I have business in Carson I stay in Reno and comute every day. So with much anticipation, I booked one stay at the Hampton Inn, and another at the Holiday Inn express. My Hampton review is listed under that hotel.

Holiday Inn express provides clean, comfortable rooms and a decent breakfast. No complaints about the stay. If this is what you are looking for, you won't be disapointed. The location near the interstate provides a quick get away, but you dont hear any highway noises. The view from the front of the hotel is nice. The sports bar across the street is actually all bar, and very smokey, but food was very good.
