I wanted to take an affordable trip to Death Valley with my sons and stumbled across The Atomic Inn while researching places to stay online. Not knowing what the town of Beatty had to offer (which is not much, by the way), I decided to just try this place because their website was well-designed and the place seemed unique. That was my first mistake. It seems they put a lot of time and money into the website, but forgot about renovating their rooms in the process. They offered basic rooms and "deluxe" rooms. I went for a basic room because I thought that the entire property had been renovated. I was wrong. The room we had was in a modular structure that had paper thin faux wood paneling walls; our neighbors were very noisy, but if the walls had been actual walls, I have a feeling it would have been significantly dampened. The furniture was extremely cheap and damaged. The beds were awful and the sheets and blankets were rough and heavy. As one person mentioned in their review, the continental breakfast was packaged Honey Buns and coffee. Gross. The TV worked poorly and the wifi they said they had didn't work in the basic rooms at all. This is a remote area and I was looking forward to being able to connect to the world at the end of our long days of hiking and could not. We had to sit in our car in the front of the property to get any signal at all. That is completely unacceptable when they advertise free wifi.
I didn't feel like the room was dirty, however, and the shower was hot; they could get rid of the liquid soap dispenser and just provide people with real soap, though. The towels were a joke for size. The bath towels were about twice the size of a hand towel.
Overall, I was really disappointed. If you want cheap, just stay at the Motel 6 down the road. At least you know what you're getting into there.
