Needed to stay one night because my original motel canceled me for no reason at all.
I called the Atomic Inn and not only did they provide me with a clean, relaxing room, they were even nice about it.

We found ourselves needing to stay longer in the Death Valley Area but wanted a place with some cool character but also clean and safe....and affordable. Bingo, we hit the jack pot. They recommended the quaint restarant down the road where we bought the best brownies and returned to our room and watched episodes of Twilight Zone that we checked out at the front desk. Super friendly staff.

This inn meets all requirements to be called a dump. No further commentry needed. A neighbor complained about snakes and scorpions, of which we did not see any, PTL!
Beatty does not have much to offer. It's just a place on the way. Much too expensive for what it's worth.

After a nine hour drive through California to Beatty I could not express my joy upon seeing the lights of the Atomic Inn, unfortunately it really didn't turn out to be as I had expected. We were situated in one of the rooms at the front, which was fine as it was quiet enough, we were able to park directly out front and it was a quick walk to the bars.
The motel itself is very close to the ghost town of Rhyolite which is well worth a visit and is also only 8 miles to the entrance of Death Valley NP. However, it is on a side street and seems to be in amongst a residential trailer park....admittedly we did have some doubts over the security of the place. We stayed in room number 5 and there looked like there had been some recent activity near the door lock, however our trip was incident free, so we maybe we should reserve judgement on that one?
The girl on the desk was nice enough, but I am afraid the cleanliness of the place does need to be addressed. In our bathroom there were very long dark hairs over the floor, the inside of the shower curtain was filthy and either needed bleaching or replacing, and there were small black dog hairs all over the bedspread. I guess you get what you pay for, but with a bit more attention to detail on the housekeeping front, this place could be a million times better. The bed itself was comfortable enough if you can get past the fact that you just need to get on with it as it too late to head on elsewhere, and the exterior decor was cool.
I was really looking forward to spending two nights in this retro motel, but ended up staying for only one, as I felt more itchy than kitsch-y after a nights kip here.
