We first saw this hotel when we googled islands for a wedding venue, not expecting Wakefield to pop up. But how glad we were! After our first trip to a wedding fayre there we were hooked...and booked!
And so on 13/3/13 at 12pm our ceremony took place and we couldn't have asked for it to be more perfect. The character and scenery is beautiful. Everything went just as we hoped with a lot of help from our fabulous co-ordinator Pauline.
We had the honeymoon suite for two nights (free on the wedding night) with stunning views of the lake and golf course. The room was fabulous and had one of the best en-suites I've seen complete with walk in shower that had about four jets!
The ceremony room was very pretty with the chairs etc in the colour we had chosen. My husband is hard of hearing and they went to great lengths ensuring the loop system in the room was right for him...even replacing the main part to make sure.
The Registrar was aware of his hearing and was brilliant and spoke clearly and didn't make it obvious by over exaggerating.
Afterwards we were greeted by Pauline with champagne and then had some lovely photographs taken as we came out to confetti on the red carpet.
Then it was across the footbridge to our drinks reception and wedding breakfast ....all very lovely.
In the evening we had a party downstairs in Squires...where again just a little touch but effective, they had changed the lighting to our colour scheme as we requested. We also asked if we could have lights in the balloons on the table at the party...and they agreed to this. I found them so agreeable and accommodating.
We had a fabulous Jazz Band...lead singer, Karen Lake. Then the dj took over for the last hour or two, playing lots of music that we had requested at a previous meeting.
And just like that the day was over....
After a gorgeous breakfast we said goodbye to many of our guests as lots had booked for a couple of nights too at a slightly discounted wedding rate.
We enjoyed a swim, sauna, steam and Jacuzzi the next day and had lunch in Charlie's Bar again all fab.
So if you're wanting to stay here or book for a wedding go ahead and do it. We will definitely be going back for future breaks, all due to it being very atmospheric and the very friendly staff.
I honestly can't fault the day. And would like to thank all involved.
What else could you ask for on your wedding day? :)
It's personal preference...Waterton Park is very modern and right up my street....however if you...
