“Clean rooms and Awesome Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

We recently stayed at the Best Western Stagecoach Inn with a Youth traveling basketball team and enjoyed our stay !! The staff was very helpful and polite with great attitudes !!! The rooms where clean, the beds was comfy and had a nice size flat screen TV.

The pool and hot tub were a welcome at the end of along day at the basketball tourney. Breakfast was pretty standard fair for Best Western and staff kept it nice and fresh. Will we stay here again !!

Impwrecker,

Thank you for the review about your stay at our hotel last week. We hope that the basketball tournament went well. We are glad that we were able to accommodate the team properly and everyone had a chance to have a hot breakfast before the game. Again, thank you for the review and we hope to see you again soon.

This older BW property is well maintained but needs updating. Everything at this property makes for a good comfortable stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. Prices are very reasonable.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

I was traveling across the state with my Mom to Colorado Springs and since we didn't want to drive 9 hours all the way through we stopped in Ogallala halfway. I chose the Best Western because the other hotels close by were $100 or more a night which I find outrageous for a winter's night in Western Nebraska, the rooms looked nicely renovated and the breakfast was not your run of the mill. My only concern was it being close to I-80 and the railroad tracks which can be noisy. We were both pleasantly surprised by this hotel which despite it being "old-school" looking it had a rustic charm that was renovated, not run-down. We were greeted by pleasant staff at check-in who gave us a very nice corner room in the main building. Nicely appointed with two double beds, separate vanity, nice clean bathroom and best of all the heat worked very well! While we heard very little highway or railroad noise we were right next to one of the outdoor stairways where kids were running up and down them that night, but once they went to bed we had an excellent night's sleep. The room was all renovated very well, one thing I found very smart that instead of buying all new furniture they repurposed all the tops of the tables, dressers and bathroom counter with nice striped marble. Being in the hotel business for over 20 years I found this very innovative, surprised more chains haven't caught onto this. Breakfast was great: make your own waffles, mini Denver omelets and sausage with cereals, bagels, pastries, juices and great coffee! Didn't try the restaurant or pool but for an overnight to sleep and have a nice relaxing breakfast in the morning the Stagecoach Inn will be my choice if I come through here again. Wi-Fi worked great (free) as well, just what we needed to start our journey. Thanks!

Trevtnyc,
Thank you so much for the wonderful review about our hotel. We are glad to hear that you and your mom had a safe trip and that we were able to accommodate you properly. Our housekeepers take a lot of pride in keeping the room clean. We are glad to hear that you had a good night stay with us. We always try to provide a good hot breakfast before our guest in the morning. We are still planning on doing more renovation and we hope that you will see it if you ever stop in Ogallala. Again, thank you again for the review.

Best Wishes,

Trinh

One of my kids & I were on I-80 driving through Winter Storm Wilbur last spring. It was pure white-out. We had to stop @ 4:30a & Ogalalla, NE was the next town. Because we travel w/our pets, we paid a little more than normal. #1: night staff wouldn't give us a discount or let us stay longer even though we were paying $80/night. I'm disabled w/RA & asked for a smoking room on the ground floor. We had ourselves, our Boston & our Abyssinian guinea pig. So what does this desk clerk do? Tells us there's nothing but 2nd floor (not true-the place was empty). We don't have a choice since we can't drive til it gets light. She put us in the most convoluted stairway/hallway maze. It's blowing snow, freezing cold, wind like crazy & we have to navigate this mess of a hotel to get to our room. After several trips, we finally get in & settled. #2: We're exhausted, but have to get back on the road. They plowed the parking area, but to get to the 2nd floor, you navigate that insane stair system, which in addition to being somewhat hazardous on a good day, has metal stair treads. The hotel neglected to put any ice melt on them & for anyone who's ever dealt w/ice & metal, you know how slick & dangerous that combination is. I'm at the car loading up, but my child isn't right behind me. Next thing I know, here's our dog dragging her leash & my chilf is coming around the corner completely soaked & injured when she slid all the way down a flight of these stairs, hitting her spine & the back of her head. #3: Normally, if an accident happens at a business, especially as huge as Best Western is, management of some type takes a report, etc. The girl at the front desk acted like we were intruding on her (she was on her cell ph w/a friend), doesn't ask if my child is OK, could she call for medical help, if there was anything she could do, etc. I had to get a business card just to find out who runs this hotel. I'm trying to call my husband, who's w/our other child (we were going to pick them up), only to discover there's NO cell service in this town & apparently a 6000 mi radius around it (we didn't have service until Sterling, CO). This hotel's staff couldn't have cared less if our child was injured by their neglect. For the rest of this trip, she was in so much pain & there was nothing I could do except give her Tylenol, which did nothing, that's how bad she got hurt. So after we get home, I sent a complaint to Best Western corporate. I finally got a brief, stock reply neither expressing concern, nor offering compensation, nothing. And this isn't the hotel itself, it's corporate! Several months later we get a short letter in the mail from the Stagecoach's manager. He tried to say that they did, in fact, have ice melt on the stairs. We knew that was a total lie because our child quite cleverly remembered if there had been ice melt on the stairs as he claimed, our dog would've been yelping in pain from it burning the pads of her paws. This entire night started out bad, went straight to rotten w/the winter storm & ended up miserable w/our child getting hurt & not a single hotel employee cared in the least. For compensation, the mgr "generously" refunded our room charge. Fortunately, slip/falls have a 2 yr statute of limitations. It's been almost a year & our child is still having issues from this & we got not a single apology, just a lie & a hotel mgrdoing everything he could to deflect any liability on his part. So if you want a good night's stay, DON'T stay during ANY winter weather, or if you have any kind of disability, kids, pets or a suitcase (the suitcase part was sarcasm). Either keep driving or check in at a rest stop. It's cheaper & you won't slide/fall/bounce down an idiotic stairway system! Thank you!

Dear Pink187.

We truly apologize for the incident that happened to your daughter last spring. All of our rooms have a different room type due to the specification of everyone’s needs. All of our smoking rooms are on the second floor. Also our pet rooms are on the East side of the building because our pet area is there. To accommodate your needs for a smoking room with a pet, we had to put you on the 2nd floor on the East side on the building. Due to the extreme conditions that night and morning we made sure we had all 3 maintenance men on site at 7 am. They removed snow all morning and put icy melt throughout the entire facility. We make an effort to provide a safe environment for all our guest. I was at the front desk that morning you checked out and apologized multiple times and asked if your daughter was ok. We told you where the nearest hospital was so your daughter could be checked out but you stated that you just wanted to hit the road. We had a maintenance man check the stairs after you left and there was still icy melt on the stairway. The continual snow was beyond our control. We did not hear anything about your daughter until you got her check out a week later. We wrote a letter to apologize for the incident again with a full refund. We hope your daughter feels better and all your travels are safer.

The rooms in this motel are clean and nicely decorated. I appreciate having an easy chair and a table in addition to the usual furnishings. The Spur, which is an attached restaurant/bar, has excellent casual food, and the motel breakfast includes eggs and sausage in addition to waffles, toast, cereal, etc. In some of the rooms, the noise of the nearby gas station can be annoying, but in most of the rooms that's not a problem. I didn't use the pool of hot tub, but people seemed to be enjoying them. There is a nearby hiking trail along the river. Overall, we like this place and have stayed there twice.

We were travelling down Interstate 80 and decided to stay overnight in Ogallala. We chose the Best Western because our two grade school daughters wanted to swim and it has an indoor pool. The price was reasonable and the location very convenient. It is right off of Interstate 80 with a steakhouse, gas station, and convenience store all attached. There is a complimentary hot breakfast included. The breakfast room got a bit congested but there were extra tables out in the lobby so once we got our food we were quite comfortable. The pool appears to have originally been an outdoor pool and was later enclosed in a glass greenhouse type of building with enclosed walkways leading to it. We were able to upgrade from two double beds to two queen size beds for less than $5 more. In its prime, I believe this motel was very lovely. It is still quite adequate and fit our needs very well. I would stay here again.

The price was great, I know the time of year may have impacted it but we were very satisfied with everything. It was easy to find and to get in and out. The breakfast was a nice touch and it was hot. We will be likely to return to the area and will be staying at the BW again.
