I stayed at the Quality Inn & Suites in North Platte for one night on my way to Colorado Springs, CO. Upon checking in, the staff was very professional. The pointed out where my room was located, advised me of the free breakfast available in the morning, and asked if I had any questions. They were very polite and expedient with checking me in.
The hotel is close to restaurants, gas stations, shopping centers, and any other convenience needed.
The hotel has a large center area with rooms facing towards the center and adjacent rooms facing outward towards the parking lot. There is also a separate building with rooms that all face towards the parking lot. I had an outward facing room in the main building. From the parking lot, the rooms look a little cheap and rundown. Some cosmetic upgrades to the walkways, windows, and exterior would be helpful in improving the hotels image.
The room however was very comfortable. It was spacious with modern decor. I had a King Size bed, large flat screen tv, business desk, and lounge chair. There was also ample drawer and closet space for clothing. The bedding was all modern and the bed was very comfortable. The carpet was very clean. I had a non smoking room and it didn't smell like smoke at all.
One of the two things that could have been improved was the bathroom. It was the one room that showed a little wear. It was very clean but in need of some updating. Some of the caulking in the tub was coming loose. The vent above was rusty. The toilet had hard water stains. Again, clean...but somewhat dated. Also, the water pressure in the shower wasn't great.
The other issue I had was the heater. Since I had an outward facing room, there was a bit of a draft coming in the door. The heater in the room was able to compensate for this but it had to run extra to do so...and it was a little loud. Had to turn the tv up to hear and had a little trouble getting to sleep.
The breakfast in the morning was good. No frills. Milk, coffee, fruit, eggs, potatoes, and sausage. But it was good and the staff working at breakfast were very nice.
All in all it was a good stay. The rooms, other than the older bathroom, are fine. The breakfast is decent, and a little sprucing up of the exterior entrances would make this hotel another star higher. If just pacing through and needing a place to stay that is okay and doesn't break the bank...I'd suggest this hotel.
Traveling on a colder day? Request an inward facing room.
