“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Stayed at the hotel in June with my husband. Staff very friendly and attentive on check in. Booked a castle room to celebrate our wedding anniversary which was worth every penny, very nice furnishings and toiletries combined with lovely views to the front. Dined in both the restaurant and the bar, highly recommend the Halibut in the restaurant and haggis starter in the bar. Made to order breakfast very good and all food very generous portions. Highly recommend a stay to those visiting the area and the Dalmore distillery is worth a visit.

Room Tip: Book a castle room for a special occasion

My work takes me to many places in and around the Uk and over seas, what a difference staying at the Kincraig Castle hotel has made to my stay in Invergordon. Every day has been like being at home, the staff are more like family and are there day and night to make my stay perfect. The hotel is just beyond belief in comfort and style, run to perfection. Would say to any one who wants to stay in a none plastic true family hotel stay here.

Room Tip: Room 19 overlooked the garden and beyond

Spacious room facing the A9 and views were good. O2 signal not brilliant. Staff were friendly but breakfast service was extremely slow, the table next to me were waiting for a taxi, and had to leave without their breakfast due to the slow service. I have stayed here twice now and find it a really nice hotel for the area. More expensive than most but then a better quality than most too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the A9 as views are really good.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing to stay at Kincraig again and for your review. We're pleased to hear that you felt comfortable and enjoyed the views from your room and we also appreciate your positive comments regarding our friendly staff.

Please kindly accept our apology regarding the slow breakfast service during your recent stay with us. Unfortunately some of our business guests need to leave very early in the morning and don't have much time available for breakfast. Whilst we're always willing to do everything we can to provide a continental or cooked breakfast before they leave, unfortunately on this occasion we weren't able to meet everybody's requirements in a timely manner.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Kincraig in the future and we assure you of our commitment to ensure that the breakfast service meets your expectations.

Yours aye,

Grant Family

This is my second time here... No better place than this. Amazing views outside the window (If you are facing A9) Rooms are spacious and elegant. Price per night is a bit higher than surrounding hotels, Bot good things wont come cheap! Highly recommended!

Overlooking the Cromarty Forth and quiet despite being off A9. This was our second overnight stay and was excellent with comfortable room and fantastic food. Friendly, helpful staff. Big central lounge area with very Scottsh feel.

Well, I read the reviews before reserving a room for me and my wife and based on those thought it would be a nice getaway for us during our trip to Scotland. Being from America we are used to even the cheaper hotels being very nice with lots of ammenities. I thought, based on the price, this place would be more luxurious. Don't get me wrong--the rooms are super big! And there were some grapes & apples left in the room each day, which was a nice snack. And the people are nice enough. But the furniture & linens were pretty cheap--like, Motel 6 cheap. The exterior is crumbling and in need of repair (especially towards the rear). There's an old building 100 feet away from the hotel that's needing major repair and is kind of an eye sore. Inside, there's only one 'lounge area', the dining room, and that's it. We're not golfers, so unless you have a way to drive 30-40 minutes each way to Inverness, there's not a whole lot to do. We had to drive because we both got bored pretty fast. If you notice on the pictures they show a picture of 'a bush' or 'a tree' --and that's pretty much all there is for the gardens they seem to brag about. Based on the price, I expected a lot more. But for Europe, maybe it's considered pretty nice. And I'm not trying to be rude or ugly or anything. But my wife and I were both disappointed and I'm sorry I spent the money. At first I wasn't going to bother reviewing the hotel, but the wife says I should. Anyways, otherwise than that our vacation to Scotland was incredible!

Room Tip: We booked the basic room, and it was really really no-frills basic. Next time I'd go ahead and...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. We're disappointed to hear that you felt your stay didn't quite live up to your expectations. We've travelled extensively around the world including the United States where we have many lovely friends and we're surprised by some of the comments you've made. We have many foreign guests at Kincraig who appreciate the history and character of our property which is over 200 years old and the amenities which we provide. We often receive complimentary reviews regarding our cuisine and especially our friendly staff who're committed to make all our guests feel at home. Being located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands there's so much to do in close proximity to our hotel, especially if you enjoy outdoor activities with world class golfing, shooting, fishing, boating and hill walking all in close proximity, not to mention the beautiful scenery with castles, distilleries, gardens, museums and visitor centres all welcoming our guests within a short drive away from Kincraig.

We're pleased that you had an 'incredible' holiday in Scotland and we hope that you will return someday.

Yours aye,

Owners

We stayed over here whilst on a short break. Beautiful surroundings with long driveway of main road , well maintained gardens. Hotel was very quaint country style , clean and spacious rooms, will all the amenities you need in a room. We ate from the bar menu in the evening and had a full Scottish breakfast in the morning, on both occasions, the food was delicious. staff very friendly and accommodating . Overall an excellent stay. Well done we would definitely recommend this .

Not sure what the previous reviewer was talking about, considering what this cost for the night it was more than value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a better view over the garden and onto countryside, our room looked out onto...
