Okay, we are seriously going to have to consider an annual trip to this place! A beautifully restored 1800's home, perfect host, one of the best breakfast's I've had at a B & B period, peace, quiet and views it would take too long to do justice...if one could.
Cassel Grove is not only conveniently located close to Omaha, where we were ultimately heading to see old friends from our NU days, and Lincoln, where we had been to enjoy our first Husker game in person since college. We had not intended to stay over, but the place was recommended by friends who knew the innkeepers and really encouraged us to take the time. The room we had was wonderfully decorated and although the bathroom was down the hall, it was very spacious and beautiful and we had it all to ourselves. (I understand now that a private bath has been installed in the room.) The house was clean and quiet and the owner had plenty of stories of the past, we especially loved the story about the one-room school house teacher that used to live in the attic. Our favorite thing to do was ramble around the property on foot, walking around, watching cows graze, leaves turn and feeling the crisp Fall night air that made us fall in love with Nebraska to begin with.
We highly recommend this place to anyone who really wants to find a nice retreat! Oh, and we really have to say thanks to Diane for letting us walk Missy (the most lovely Collie on the planet), it made us feel so at home since we have a lovely Border Collie at home that we were missing right about then!
Sorry it took us so long to write this. We were just making our reservations for this Fall and realized we hadn't done it. Really, to all who read this, take the time to visit Cassel Grove!! You will be so happy you did.
