“My wife loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

I am not a quilt aficionado so this is my wife's opinion. She loved it. Their collection has over 3,500 quilts from all over the world in a controlled environment for preservation. The museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and the building's architect designed it to symbolize a quilt.

“Wow! Great museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

My first trip to the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, NE and I was duly impressed. The building is a beautiful structure and participating in a guided tour will give you a better feel for the design of the building as well as a more complete insight into the displays. I was fascinated by "The Engineer Who Could" display. Ernest Haight, an engineer, noticed the imprecise construction of one of his wife's quilts and had to mention it. Her response was he should prove he could do better or keep quiet. He proved he could construct fabulous quilts as well as design them and made about 300 quilts between 1934 & 1986. It was a family affair. Go to the IQM and learn more about Ernest and the quilts he, his wife, mother and father made, as well as visit the other 2 galleries. Wonderful information on quilts and fiber art. I will definitely return whenever I'm in Lincoln.

“Good even for non quilt junkie!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

I'm not a quilt junkie at all, although I do like knitting, crochet and handcrafts. But I thought this museum was fascinating and well worth a visit. As others have said, do take a docent tour if you have a chance, you will learn a lot, particularly if like me you don't know a lot about quilts. Only a small proportion of the quilts held by the museum are on display at any one time and I think the displays change regularly. So the number of quilts is not overwhelming and they are beautifully displayed. You can get up very close and see the amazing amount of work that goes into individual quilts. There was a good balance between historical and contemporary examples, so there is something for everyone.

“Quilt Junkies Haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

If you like (or live) quilts then this is a must see museum. They have a good selection of quilts on display in 3 galleries. Make it a point to take part in one of the guided tours so you can learn more details about the museum. Not as big as the Padukah museum, but definitely worth seeing.
