3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2010

We went with the extended family to this resort, think there are around 700 rooms. We stayed in a 3 bedroom, clean, although the bed was not of good quality, so I did not manage to get much sleep at night. The water theme park was quite fun, though water was rather dirty, but understandable, it was a holiday long weekend with throngs of guests. Whilst the cost of accomodation was reasonable, I was not happy with the pricing of the meals and activities there, way overpriced because there the location of the resort was that you need to travel quite far to get to a reasonably priced coffee shop/restaurant. Quality of food was poor in relation to the price we paid.

Ever since this resort was renovated, it has been great. Looks clean and spacious except the water in the water park. Why can't they clean the water in the water park regularly??? This was pretty much the major drawback, otherwise I would have graded this resort much higher. But still this is a pretty decent resort especially in Desaru (forget about the rest of the resorts in Desaru, they are in bad shape). Buffet breakfast as well the buffet dinner, are pretty good (only issue I had is they need some innovative ways of keeping the flies away. They used plastic wraps to wrap the fruits! Of course it won't work 'cause once the 1st person opens it, the flies started coming. They need solid transparent plastic covers). Beach was great! Overall, we still had a great time. The kids love this place. If they can fine tune those issues mentioned above, I would grade it 1 more star.

We check in 8 Aug 2010 for one night stay after taking the review from here. All the comments as per descript. 14 of us from 2 yrs up to 70 yrs old, a big family trip. We all enjoy & satisfy as overall. Check-in is very slow, we reach 11.30 but they said room only available after 1pm. After consider of the young kids, they give us one room first but another room we only check in at 4pm. Anyway the staff is friendly to response to us even we keep on asking when can check in. Facilities overall is good base on the money paid, it is Malaysia Standard. The free Breakfast quality also looks great to us even the comment in this web saying not so good.
One more, the heater only will heat up after 10 mins on the switch. And only can let 2 ppl shower then the water turn cold again. Would suggest the family with yound kids like me boil the kettle water in bathtub for them to shower. My daughter cry like hell while shower, coz of cold water and shower head(no hose) she scare on the shower head.

If you're heading for Desaru, surely your are not expecting a Bali or Phuket experience, right ? Likewise, it would not be fair to baseline Lotus Desaru with those out there too. Wiith that, I could safely say Lotus Desaru is the best that you can get in Desaru.

Great weekend getaway destination. Surely would get more value out of the price paid for a weekend at Downtown East (S'pore's very own resort at Pasir Ris). With their competitive tariffs & not having too high an expectation, this hotel would be a good choice.

My family of 4 ( 2 adults & 2 kids - 9yrs & 14yrs), we took a 2 bedrooms apartment facing the pool (I think it's block F, if I've not mistaken). Aircon, fridge, kettle, TV all worked fine. Breakfast (remember what you'd paid) - acceptable. However, don't expect prompt action from the housekeeping. As this is a big place & the housekeeping department seems to be somewhat short handed, I had a problem getting them to clean up the apartment - they eventually got it done late in the afternoon after repeated request.

One think I should add just in case those family with kids would want to make a rental of the bicycles for a ride around the compound, the bikes are all in poor conditions ! My son had problem 'releasing the brakes & in the process had a bad fall along the slope. Staffs did provide first aid readily.

All in all, as I had said, with the price that I had paid I got my value from my weekend stay. Unless or untill there's a better option, I'll continue to op for Lotus Desaru if I would to be here again.

We book the resort through the desaru fruit farm agency at Singapore for 3D2N from 16 Jul fri. Agency told us there is free parking at the Changi ferry terminal. Went to the wrong ferry terminal & only realise it is the wrong terminal when we found no free parking. Luckily we are early so still in time for the ferry which set off on time. Checkpoint is really fast as few people. Ferry ride is only 30mins. Agency tour guide pick us up & we are the only family as most people go to Desaru on sat. Went to Desaru fruit farm & have great lunch. The food at the fruit farm is the nicest we have during this trip and good spread.

After fruit farm trip, we checkin the lotus desaru resort. Few people on friday and we have the whole waterpark, playground to ourselves. The waterpark is like lake water (not clear), confirm no chlorine & has insects floating. But we are fine with it. The falling coconut slide is interesting but our boy is too young (only 2 yrs old) so didn't play much. The water playground is more for 3yrs and above too but he got play a bit. Went swimming in the waterpark.

We have dinner at the 2nd storey seafood restaurant. The food is generally ok except the fish is horrible. I read the review for seafood restaurant is better than the coffee house but personally we think that it is not worth for the money.

Friday is quiet and we have the whole beach to ourselves, nice view. Beach is a bit dirty with rubbish, obviously the resort didn't clean it up. But sand is fine and good to walk on, water is very clear. Overall the beach is fantastic, reminds me of the old days at East Coast beach (where it is less populated), beach benches (plenty) to rest and relax under shelter. Also have beach bar & water jet ski etc. We didn't realise that there is a shower area near the beach for washing the sand until 2nd day. The beach bar drinks r expensive, 1 bottle of coke cost RM$6.00. Later we discover that the shop (near entrance) sell many drinks at reasonable prices RM$3. In fact the shop is quite good and they even sell beach stuff (swimsuit/beach ball etc), toiletries, medicine, snacks, drinks. even diapers and feeding bottle also sell.

Our room is 1 king size bed, double storey with a living area. Equipped with kettle, microwave, fridge, TV, hairdryer, 2 toilets, sink with cups & utensils. They also provide toiletries & towels. Room, toilet & bed are clean. Though the staircase give us a headache as our young kid love to climb up and down and we have to watch out for him. Air-con is cold (in fact too cold and we only adjust the temperature on 2nd day).

2nd day morn we are woke up by the air-con stop functioning suddenly & whole room no electricity. In darkness we walk down the stairs to pull the blinds (luckily didn't fall down) to get some light. When we call the reception we are told that the whole resort out of electricity due to heavy rain and lighting. We proceed for breakfast & by the time we are back (1 hour or so), the electricity was back. But we have to climb up the stairs for 5 storeys (our room is the highest) as the lift was not functioning (due to no electricity), so tired.

2nd day we have breakfast, lunch & dinner at coffee house. They have buffet for breakfast with around 15 food items, generally food is ok. As there are 2 big grps on sat, coffee house staff inform us to go to the bar for lunch. But our boy slept until 2pm and so the crowd was gone, thus in the end we eat at the coffee house. The staff waited for us to finish our lunch until 3pm then they close the buffet after consulting us (we are the last for the lunch). Dinner we have BBQ dinner and some food are quite nice. Sat is the most populated with many locals.

We also tried the swimming pool (near the coffee house) which has slight chlorine, very few people (most people go for the waterpark). The resort also have gym (nice gym but few people use), indoor children playground (few people use too), DVD rental (old and backdated DVD), bicycle rental. Very often we use the buggy service to move around as the resort is big.

On 3rd day we went out late for lunch as our boy need his noon nap. After lunch we went back to room to take our luaggage & realise that the room is locked & card can't use. As time is nearly there for our tour guide to pick us up, we rush to the reception for re-activation of the card and my husband has to run back to grab the luagage while the whole van people are waiting for us. It was a mad rush. We were told that they auto lock-out at 12pm which is their official check-out time.

Overall we found the resort nice and pleasant for a stay not longer than 3D2N. Staff are friendly and helpful. Beach is good and relaxing, fun. Areas to improve on: food at coffee house (quality), beach clean-up, more indoor activities (in case of rain). The shop at reception probably is better to move to near the waterpark (else have to walk far) if possible.

Stayed @ Lotus Desaru Beach Resort on 26th June 2010 during a Road Trip to Desaru from Singapore. It was around an hour's drive from Singapore to Desaru if the traffice condition is not that bad.

Upon arrival for the check-in, waiting time was still alright, won't say that it was super speedy. They counter staff even had to ask whether my friend has paid up for the accomodation already. *Faintz* However, Lotus Desaru Beach Resort seems to be pretty popular with the Singaporean families there to take a break at Desaru, given the number of Singapore cars parked at the carpark.

Price wise for our stay at Lotus Desaru Beach Resort was considered cheap, if compared to resorts in Singapore. MYR 80 per pax for a 3 bedroom unit, not too bad a deal already.

Unit was just simple and with the necessary required! Just that the kettle was LEAKING! In the end we didn't even change it, as we drank bottled water. Rooms were nothing fantastic. Just good enough and tidy & clean for a good night's rest after a tiring day. At least the aircon was in working condition, given the humidity of the place. Beds I would say normal, not too soft or hard. Water heater, checked. TV, checked. Aircon, checked.

Service staff were pretty friendly and efficient, when they were required. Also, our unit was within walking distance to the pathetic beach at Desaru.. Around 10 minutes. Sand was rough! Beach was not clean, yet also not that dirty! Stretch of beach available was pretty limited as well! Pool near the beach was a much better option!

Worse experience there was the complimentary breakfast provided by the resort.
Atrocious is an understatement for the food and the service provided for BREAKFAST!
We were there at the shabby indoor hall which was used to serve a buffet simple
breakfast at 9.15am, which technically should have its last serving at 10am. However, to
our present surprise, by the time we reached the location, the line of food was EMPTY!
With like only bread and jam left at the serving tables. There were at least 10 of the
Buffet trays but most were empty except for some containing curry and Roti Prata. We
Checked with the service staff whether there will still be any refiiling of the food in the buffet trays and they just gave us a unfriendly stare and “NO” came our way. We noticed that we weren’t the only ones waiting for food to be refilled at the food line. In the end, the relented and filled up the roti prata tray ONLY. Oh Gosh! Dis we have no choice at all? Moreover, the roti prata was just edible and curry was 4/10. You can imagine it yourself. We just had to make do with whatever leftover which we could get our hands on. Sigh!

Checking-Out was a pretty fast process! And Don’t think I will re-visit this resort anytime soon, unless it’s the best resort available in Desaru already!

Me and my hubby wanted to go to Desaru for a short getaway but just can't seem to find a resort that we like. We happen to saw Lotus Desaru under Konsortium. We only paid $185 per person. . The ride from Singapore to there is like only an hour? We took the 0715 ferry. so we reached ard 0815. Thought they are going to check us in at 3pm. To my amaze, the check us in immediately. i was grateful for that. The resort look like a castle from far. It was really amazing. We book the 1 bedroom suite and the room is great. Feels like im in a castle. The room is upstairs and had a very modern spiral staircase look. The suite is equip with things like safe, microave, kettle and fridge. Since i check in early, We went to sign up on the fireflies tour and fruit farm on the very same day. It started around 4 pm. So till then we had a very good rest and i'm glad they have a movie channel on TV to keep us entertained. The outdoor trip is great especially the fireflies. They are just so beautiful. It could be better if not for the disturbing kids around. HAhaha.... Sat at the Rhu bar at night, staff were friendly and great night breeze. The next day was better. Had a wonderful buffet breakfast followed by sea activities. Jet Ski, Kayaking and Joy ride. On the last day we are there staff were very friendly maybe cause there only us checking out on a Monday. The staff accompany us to the Terminal and stayed with us till we are in the ferry. He all the way pull our luggage and all. It was just so fantastic to be waited around. I would highly recommend the Resort to my friends and family.
