“A Pleasant Surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

Pleasantly surprised by the nice rooms (2BR) and courteous staff. Wasn't expecting much but will definitely stay here if I visit the area.
Come early for the breakfast buffet but be prepared for the unusually high number of flies buzzing around.
The mee goreng is a must-try if you're a fan of that dish.
Also, check out their lazy river slide.

Room Tip: Block H 3rd floor overlooking the pool

I have recently went for a short getaway in lotus desaru (may 2014). This is like the 5th time i stayed here... so far so good... didn't really have much to complain about the resort.

Rooms are normal and comes with some basic kitchen stuff (e.g.: spoon, fork, plates, microwave and sponge for washing dishes)

So far i have stayed in 3 types of their apartment...

Just to share:
1. 1 bedroom apartment is a double storey apartment (how cool is that...) on the first floor, there is a toilet, small kitchen and a living room with sofa and television. On the second floor is the bed , a bathroom with bathtub. Good thing is it is spacious but if u have young kids then have to be careful because of the stairs. also, the design of the apartment is that you can see living room from upstairs so it is quite dangerous for kids in case they climb and fall down.
2. 2 bedroom apartment comes with 2 rooms, 2 toilets (one in master bedroom with bathtub and the other bathroom is a common bathroom, good thing is that the second bathroom also have a door attached to the second bedroom for easy access). The apartment also comes with a living room, plus a kitchen area.
3. 3 bedroom apartment is also quite standard , comes with 3 rooms, 2 bathroom (one in master bedroom with bathtub and one common bathroom), a living room and kitchen area.

The facilities at Lotus is good, there are 2 main swimming pool area, one of them is near the beach, and the other one comes with children water playground and water slide.

There are also some new changes in the facilities, a new retail shop, a funtime area near the beach with pool table, some games machine, a new bar by the beachside, some newly added beach canopy like chair...i also like how they organised activities to keep their guest entertained. At night, there are a k/oke contest near the beach and in the morning, some instructors leading morning exercise dance which is quite cool .. not sure if they have the activities everyday or just on public hols and weekend...

overall, we had a good trip. kids had fun with the pool and the sand.. adult just chilling...

Room Tip: Request for block S if you want to be nearer to the beach....reduce walking distance, helpful if you...

The first impression at the check-in lobby was this is a mini Genting. It was crowded and queues were forming.

We stayed in a 2-room apartment. It was very clean and the condition of the room is fairly well maintained.

Breakfast offered a nice spread. Nasi lemak was definitely a favourite. A big turn off was the big turn out of houseflies.

Thanks to the huge crowd, we did not participate fully in the water park although it looked highly enjoyable with a smaller crowd.

One more thing, if you are returning late in the evening, be patient in finding a parking lot. We found the staff car park as our solution after going 2 rounds.

The resort caters to company events. While we were there, we saw at least 2 companies having their retreat. With such a large crowd, the service is very slow. For one, they did not provide Wifi without telling us the reason until we enquired. The response we received was that they had too many guests.

The pool was packed and going down the lazy river was at our own risk due to the overwhelming number of guests. The one personnel stationed there should have spread out the interval between each person sliding down, but unfortunately, he did not. We were literally crashing into one another.

Rooms are small and furniture are tired looking.

Breakfast was chaotic. It felt like I was eating in a extremely hot canteen with lots of flies and with guests who grabbed food as if it was the end of the world. One Chinese foreigner stood right in front of us at the noodles soup corner and fished out all the fishballs she can possibly find into a bowl. And no staff was deployed to monitor as
they were too busy.

The nightly rate was not cheap but I certainly felt it wasn't value for money. They had too many guests and insufficient control over the crowd.

We went there in a group of 20 pax and booked the room. I was enquiring the rental of BBQ pit which I had rented before and found out that the price had increased by a lot. I tried to ask reception and I got a different price. to my doubt, I called the hotel manager. She did not answer my questions and hung up my call instead. She even said that I DON'T entertain SMALL group. Other staffs are quite friendly and service is good too but I won't consider staying at this hotel anymore.

We got a one bedroom unit, the unit is clean, hotel staff (reception) are very friendly and experiences. Food/drinks at hotel's restaurant/bar are well prepared with varieties local food and good service from the restaurant/bar staff. A little disappointment on the waterplay, wish to have more water feature and play area at the pool for younger kids. Beach is fantastic with whole stretch of beach bedding along the beach for people to rest around the beach. Overall, it is a nice place for a weekend break.

booked thru 3rd party website. a quick drive away. arrived early and delighted with an early check in with no questions asked. given hotel key , waterpark tags , pool towel vouchers , breakfast voucher. the room has an interesting layout. king size bed on mezzanine floor.
lofty and has a washroom on both floors. equipped with fridge , sink. no stove. everything was adequate for us. staff generally very accomodating and pleasant. smiling faces. just dun overwhelm them with too many requests.
total of 3 pools. the waterpark lacks features except the lazy river slides. was able to wear shorts and shirts attire here. went to the other waterpark at M block cluster and spent most time in the pool there instead. water looks way cleaner. in fact the whole pool was ours. but had a personnel there to remind us of proper swimming attire minus shirts eg. we didnt visit the third pool near the teratai coffee house / reception though. nice lounge chairs provided at beach.
fast check-in / check-out even though having busloads of corporate clients on getaway.
Pros.
mini firework display at night. it was friday night.
watersports and other activities to keep preoccupied.
decent live band.
mini dance-off after dinner.
must watch sunrise from the beach lounge chairs. early bird for breakfast means avoiding the massive crowd afterwards.

Cons.
car park slots can be limited , which means having to park further & a long walk back to the room.
balcony was absolutely filthy. scattered dead insects covers the entire floor.
water shower pressure intermittent.
dirty pool towels.

Room Tip: choose room near the lifts.
