“seemed like we were in a different restaurant to the other reviews”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Having given a friend free range on where to book for dinner we went to the bears paw with open minds. The service from the first was bad.We gave the name the table was booked under and were told to go to the bar and she would look where we were sittting.Having done this the same young lady told us to go back where we were as the table was in the restaurant.when we were seated we were asked for our drinks order, unfortunatley when the drinks came the waitress spilt one all over me which could happen to everyone but when I asked for a cloth to dry up I was given an old bar towel and had to ask again for the floor to be dried. The meal once ordered took nearly an hour to come.My cheese and onion pie could have been used as a door stop it was that hard, but my husband's chicken was like a pullet in size and for the price they charge he had to have supper on our return home.

“Gastropub worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Hidden gem, excellent quality food at a reasonable price in an inn with fabulous ambience, a roaring fire and wooden tables, chairs and flooring. Fabulous experience, perfect for a lazy Sunday evening when we stayed at the inn.

“Okay, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

The quality is okay but the lunchtime menu is based around prep-prepared food. It's like they don't want to spend the money on a chef when it's quiet. Perhaps it's quiet because they don't have a chef. I would be a regular if there was some variety and freshness about the lunch menu. For all of that, it's definitely overpriced.

“Lovely old authentic pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013 via mobile

Terrific classic English pub. Great menu of not only traditional favorites such as steak and ale pie, fish and chips but also many many contemporary items as well. Large selection of spirits including real cask-conditioned, gravity fed English ale in kegs. Need I say more?

“Lovely food but service not the best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Food was amazing, slightly pricey and the service could have been better.
If you are staying in the hotel, order the food to your room as itdoes not cost anything extra and you get your food much quicker. Steak was really nice as was the burger and the deli boards are the best value.
