Where do we begin? We too, booked a deal through a voucher site and was mislead.
From the moment we arrived we were 'growled' at. I did not see any of the staff members at the main reception smile, just once.
The place seemed deserted, empty and not at all inviting.
We booked this deal as a "family" with 4 horserides included in the price. We spoke to, as well as emailed the 'resort' several times prior to arriving. They knew the age of our children, and yet waited untill we arrived before telling us that my 7 year old son could not ride as he was too young. To be honest that was one of the main reasons we decided to take the holiday. Our children were looking forward to that more than anything. On top of it, we were then told we could pay an extra $20 for a 'pony ride' for my son. They were extreemly condescending to my husband and I, rather than helpful and friendly. They argued with us, as well as other staff members.
Everything is a bother and seems as though you are putting them out. We were told that we had till 8pm to use the bar as they wanted to go home. It seems aparent the two main woman on the front reception are miserable in their jobs and dont enjoy being there...and it shows clearly!
The rooms are very average. Dirty and smelly. We had stains on our carpet and thin sheets (it's mid winter). The heater in the dorm rooms we stayed (not cabins as stated in voucher) was ancient and noisy...however they did heat up pretty good. We had dead bugs in our room. Our bed head fell off ontop of my husband and I in the middle of the night, waking us up. Beds quite hard and we had very unrestful sleeps.
We asked staff regarding the resturant...menus, prices etc and the staff on reception wouldnt pass on any infomation. (we're still unsure why). She did eventually tell us that it was $35 for a buffet...but thats all the info we got.
After reading the other reviews Im now glad we decided to not eat there.
I have to say however, that there are TWO things going for this place.
1) The breathtaking views and
2)The horseriding. Despite being unable to ride as a family, Anita and the two guys looked after us so well. They are a credit to the resort. Very friendly, honest and happy! How refreshing. If we came back (which I know we wont be) it would only be for the horseriding.
Its a real shame this beautiful place is in the hands of people who are only in it for the money. Its quanity over quality. I too would have loved to have seen this property in its prime.
