“Very good hostel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Clean and basic. Rooms can sleep up to about 6 people in bunk beds. One room for $69+tax has a private bathroom although it is outside the room. The other rooms for $59+tax use a shared bathroom. Owner is friendly and helpful. A basic breakfast is included but we missed it since we wanted to leave before the 8AM breakfast time. Would stay here again. It's probably the lowest priced accommodation in Cabano and located near the Petit Temis bike trail. There are several bars and restaurants nearby.

What a great find in such a beautiful setting! I stayed in the family room with my two adult sons 21 and 22 years. They fought over who would sleep on the top bunk. The eldest won. Claude and Big Ben have created a comfortable and extremely clean guest house for travellers. Claude is kind and friendly with a great sense of humour. We were able to share our travel experiences with two other travellers while there and that made for a wonderful stay as well. I highly recommend this hostel to everyone at every age.

I stayed with Auberge Internationale Temiscouate the last couple of days and I absolutely loved the experience. It's clean, quite and I had lots of fun. Claude is super nice and funny. Big Ben is a great, calm and polite dog. You can view the sunrise from the second floor deck above river Temiscouate. and the beautiful colour of the national park during sunset time. The pizza place across the street is cozy and offers very nice pizza. Thanks Yan and Claude and Big Ben. You made my trip unique. Merci Beaucoup! Penny

Was a great trip as usual. We always stay there on our way across the country. This time Claude was even more obliging as he let us check in late due to the weather (really late) and even shovelled us out the next morning when there was 40 cm of snow!!!!
Thanks!!
PS I only say the lowest rating on swimming pool and fitness center as there isn't one and had to pick something.

Room Tip: The family room # 1 has a private bathroom!!

My wife and I stayed here in the private room + bathroom while passing through from the Maritimes back to Ontario. Just to be clear, this place is a hostel and not a motel/hotel, which we were confused about prior to staying because the name says hostel, but we were able to book it through Priceline.com (which usually only deals with hotels). The staff was helpful, spoke English, and was accommodating with us arriving there later at night (around 10pm). Inside the room itself, as mentioned in another review, your bathroom and sleeping areas are divided by a curtain. It's not the most private setup (you'll hear everything happening on the other side of the curtain when your significant other uses the toilet so bring some music to play to try and save the magic in your relationship), but it's functional, and everything was clean and relatively new. Only thing that could be improved is if the bedsheets were already on the bed (rather than having to make the bed when all we wanted to do was collapse and sleep after hours of driving). It was a bit noisy outside through with cars and stuff pulling up out back, so you may need to sleep with the windows closed.

The layout of the building itself is a bit strange as it seems that they really tried to maximize their space in the building. For example, immediately outside of the private+BR room is a set of bunks that other people sleep in, so it was a bit awkward having to pass through their sleeping area to get to anything else in the building. We'd occasionally hear someone try to enter our room as well, likely thinking that our room was the shared bathroom for the bunk area. There's a problem with the inside stairs too, so to get to the common area, you have to go outside and around to the back of the building and then inside past the front desk. On that note, when you arrive, be sure to park out back of the building (there's a gravel parking lot) and knock/ring the bell at the back door where the front desk is located. When we arrived late at night, we weren't 100% sure where to go initially, and if you try to go to the front of the building where the rooms are, you run the risk of waking people up by knocking there, so make sure you go up the steps at the back where you'll find a button to ring the front desk.

Breakfast was simple but consisted of toast and jam, juice, coffee, and some apples. Overall, it was a decent place to spend the night, and for the price, it was a good deal, and in line with other hostels that we've stayed at before in Quebec. It's a pretty little town by the water as well with a bunch of bars/shops/restaurants in the area, so it was generally quite enjoyable to stay here.

My partner and I were looking for an affordable and clean place to break up the trip between Ontario and the Maritimes. We would be arriving after midnight so this was somewhat of a challenge at other places but it was no problem here. We booked a private room with bathroom. It is clean and basic but has everything you need. The only thing that I didn't love is that our bathroom was only separated from the bedroom part by a curtain; however, for the price this is certainly something I can live with and you can always use the other toilets if you would like a bit more privacy. Thanks for the great stay and the excellent service...best hostel breakfast I've ever had and we are now totally hooked on the cheese bread from the bakery! We will definitely stop in again next year.

We stopped here with our 2 month old baby on our way to PEI. Best decision ever! Why pay 100$+ to stay at a hotel, when this place has it all? We were very comfortable, had our private room and bathroom, and the place was very child-friendly. Extremely clean! Comfortable sheets and beds. Free breakfast. Super friendly host. We appreciated being able to use the kitchen and store some things in the fridge. I would recommend this hostel to anyone, whether you are passing through, or looking to stay a few days in the area.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with a family, you can book the family room (double bed and 2 bunk beds).
