I needed a break from my regular life so I booked one week vacation at Rowse's 1+1 Ranch.
This was the best vacation I ever had. Tammy and Jerry Rowse's were great host and made me feel part of the family. I never experienced ranch life before so it was totally different coming from a big city. I've learned alot in the week I was there and have a much better understanding of ranch life. Tammy is a great cook and I guarantee you that you wont go hungry there loll. Jerry is a great teacher and I learned alot from him. The horse I had the whole week is called Tell and he was great. You will meet alot of great travellers from all over the world like I did. They are great folks. The accomodations were excellent.
If you are searching for a real working ranch don't look any further than Rowse's.
I will come back that is a certainty. Thanks again Tammy and Jerry for the best vacation you gave me.
From a small town in Maine, growing up dreaming about the cowboy way of life, to the rolling Sand Hills of Nebraska and Rowse’s 1 Plus 1Ranch with it’s spirited quarter horses, I realized that dream of working with cattle on a real cattle ranch. I couldn’t have made a better choice.
The friendliness and expertise of Jerry and Tammy Rowse and members of their crew was exemplary. They welcomed me into their ranks as a member of their family, but most importantly for me, a member of the crew. I was a ranch hand, a cowboy, not only in mind and spirit but also in actuality. I was living the cowboy life of moving and checking on cattle, fences, watering holes and helping neighbors moving or sorting their cattle and all on horseback. I don’t believe there was anything to do that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy which unfortunately made the week go by way to fast. In the evenings, I especially liked watching the cowboys in the arena honing their skills with the lasso, or just sitting on the bunkhouse porch watching the sun set into the Sand Hills. It doesn’t get any better than this. I will therefore sum it up with a big thank you to Rowse’s and a promise to see you again Pards.
The decision which ranch to go to was hard. But I'm so happy I chose to go to 1+1 Ranch. It was one of the best experiences I ever had. Jerry, Tammy and the whole family made you feel so very welcome, and you felt at home from the very beginning. Tammy's cooking is delicious, get hungry everytime I think back... :-) And with Jerry on the rides you gonna have a lot of good laughs! The horses are lovely, and they do have a horse for everyone. And after a long day you can relax on the porch or in the lovely cabins, where you'll find everything you need. You get to learn a lot about cattle and ranch life, and there's always something to do. There's a lot of time on the horseback, but it still very relaxing. so if you're looking for a lot of great experiences and peace of mind, your definitely gonna find it there... and a lot more! I can recomend the ranch to anyone and I can't wait to go back there!
We've been to the Rowse Ranch for the last two summers. The first visit was in August 2009 to celebrate our 40th anniversary doing things we had not had time to do on our own farm. This year's visit in July was like going home to visit old friends. Everyone in Burwell is so friendly. We really enjoy riding in the picturesque sand hills, working with cattle and horses, eating wonderful home cooked meals and enjoying peace and quiet.
