“Great location for Whitefish”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

I stayed at the Big Mountain Lodge to attend a wedding in Whitefish. The staff was helpful, the rooms were a bit dated, parking tight, but the location was great. Near food places for the kids, a short drive/long walk into downtown. The only problem we had was each day we had to get new keys. The hotel staff told us we must be putting them near the cell phone etc. Just to check, we left a working key in the car when we left for the day, upon our return the key didn't work.

Room Tip: We had a room with a large gathering area and separate bedroom. It was perfect for a crowd, I believ...

I have stayed here many times over the past few years, and this past stay was the worst.

This motel was previously a Holiday Inn Express, then changed owners/ names but is currently is in desperate need of remodel.

The plumbing is very noisy. Our toilet worked intermittently, and the bath/ shower faucets were so loose that they moved around inside of the wall. The carpets were worn, the TV remote didn't work and the clock was a half-hour off and couldn't be set. We could hear the guests in their rooms all around us, even though they weren't overly loud. The second door (to the exterior) couldn't be locked without a lot of effort. There was an open box of condoms in the nightstand drawer.

The front desk clerk was completely out-of-sync with her computer, and needed our information several times before we could get checked in.

The morning breakfast was acceptable which was the normal do-it-yourself cereal choices, toast/ bagel/ muffin, juice, coffee, etc. and the eating area was clean with a free local newspaper.

The price was good but we won't be back.

Room Tip: Try the motel next door.

We went to Montana for New Years and stayed here. Rooms were nothing special but clean. Hot tub was fun. Close to shopping. Not so close to the bars! All in all a great time for the money!

This is not a fancy, upscale resort. Keep that in mind when you book, and you'll be satisfied. The pool is small and is primarily there for the water slide. The two hot tubs are out doors, and were always hot. Breakfast bar was clean, well stocked and well attended to. Sausage, eggs, toast, cereal, juice, coffee etc.

The rooms on the ground floor have doors directly to the parking lot and into the hallway. Rooms are ok. They are clean, but showing signs of the volume of low budget families who frequent this hotel.

Come here to sleep, swim and hit the slopes. Keep your expectations low and you'll be satisfied.

Room Tip: Dos Amigos down the street for great mexican fare.

I was not expecting much when we arrived at this hotel but what a pleasant surprise to find
a big, clean, well lit room with great bath. We were on the 1st floor so we had an additional
outside entrance (big help with all our stuff). The hotel is located just outside of downtown so a car is required to visit the shopping areas. It has this wonderful pool area and free breakfast. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Could not wait to get back & write a review.

We almost didn't stay here based on the reviews, but decided to ignore them. Glad we did!!! The staff is SUPER friendly and helpful. The hotel is nice with a good breakfast in the morning. The location is good, with several restaurants within walking distance. Finally, if you have kids, they will LOVE the pool. The water slide in the pictures is even more fun in real life. It also accomodates adults. I would stay here anytime!!!

We stayed here for one night as a stop over on our way to another destination.
There were four of us in one double queen room and the room was clean and the beds were comfy.
We arrived late which wasn't a problem as the front desk is manned 24 hours.
We didn't stay for breakfast or use the pool facilities so no comments there.
Overall our stay was just average.
