“Friendly Service and Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

I stayed here for 4 nights while I was in the area looking for housing since we are soon moving to the area. I was on a trip with my dad, but this would be a perfect romantic weekend spot or great for a girls weekend.

The service here is great. The employees are super friendly and make you feel at home right away. Lauren was lovely and friendly, with a lot of good suggestions, and the other ladies were super helpful with suggestions/ideas for activities. The breakfasts are also impressive, so come hungry!

The location of Hidden Moose is very nice. For one, you are in walking distance to two great restaurants, Haskill's and the Lodge, which makes for a nice evening if the weather is good. It also borders the Whitefish Lake trail, which is a nice paved path around the area.

The good: conveniently located. Beautiful lodge with cozy fireplace. Scrumptious breakfast. Casual atmosphere. Pretty room furnishings. Soft sheets. Plenty of hideaway spots on the grounds to read or visit.

The not so great: we stayed in a separate building from the lodge. First impression as we walked to the building was, "I wonder why they have piles of gardening equipment etc piled on the porch?" Granted it is spring, and I am sure they are anticipating planting the many containers, but when paying quite a bit for a room, you don't expect to see piles of junk around. . Second impression was a mildew smell in the halls (eww!) and dirty carpets. The off white carpets in our room were also dirty and there was a layer of dust along the edge near the floorboards. The mildew smell in the halls was also evident in our room. I also thought it was odd that our bed sheets and pillow cases didn't match. A small thing, but still... And the bed was super firm. Our daughter hideaway had some missing springs so the mattress kept falling through at the foot of the bed. The next day, after coming back from our activities I was surprised to find that our room hadn't really been straightened. The comforter was thrown into place, but the bed sheets weren't made up and smoothed out. Fresh towels had been dropped off, which was nice. The sink still had makeup in it from my foundation which had spilled the night before.

This is a lovely lodge but just an ok experience. My impression was that perhaps the inn keepers had lost their initial passion for the place. The things that aren't up to snuff are so easily fixed. It is just a few details away from being stellar! Really! For the price I expected just a little more attention to those details.

Dear "Sharfra" - Thanks for your feedback. You were right, we are currently gearing up for planting our numerous flower boxes that we have in the Summer - it's a big job and the boxes and equipment can take up more room than our garage can hold. Sorry. You'll also be glad to know that we just replaced our carpeting in many of our rooms, including the room I believed you and your family stayed in. We hope you'll give us another try the next time you visit Whitefish.

We stayed for one night, after my husband had been away on business for several weeks. This was the perfect place to get away and reconnect. We were greeted with fresh, warm, cookies, and enjoyed a nice glass of wine by the fireplace, before and after we went out to dinner. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we had hoped for. We are going back again soon! Thanks!

Our recent 2 night stay was fantastic. Lauren had gluten free cookies just out of the oven when we arrived and the breakfasts were created to meet a celiac diet. It was so nice to sit by the fire with a glass of wine and enjoy the cool mountain air. If we are ever back in the area we will certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Our room was on the road side but was quiet.

Stayed for two nights recently at Hidden Moose while skiing Whitefish. Beautiful lodge, nice rooms and good value. Located on the road on the way out to Big Mountain, the staff were very welcoming, the breakfasts excellent and the complimentary wine and freshly baked cookies in the evenings in front of the log fire gave it a nice homely feel. Enjoying a cold beer in the hot tub after a long days skiing is hard to beat too. Can't wait to go back.

Hidden Moose Lodge is a Whitefish gem! Comfortable beds, soft pillows, great breakfast and happy hour...plus a hot tub for the body, after your ski or bike day. Can't beat their price. Also, Bachelor 2 on 1 took place at HML, to bad they didn't show the credits; that's Hollywood for you. Best family ski trip with sons in 30's parents 66; Doug just returned from 12 mos. of world travel.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the street and also had a balcony, I did not hear any noise.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013 via mobile

We've been to Whitefish for the past three years and have enjoyed each visit, but this was our first visit to Hidden Moose Lodge, a special find. We've stayed at many B and B's around the country and think the Hidden Moose is a great value in a beautiful setting. The rustic lodge is comfortable and homey, and Kent and his staff are personable but not intrusive. We felt welcomed from the start, and we even extended our stay another night. Each breakfast was outstanding and we will definitely come back next year.
