“Rude red headed front desk receptionist”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

A large wedding party had gathered in the main lobby. As we have 2 kids with us we didn't want to eat at the restaurant or lounge if there would be a lot of noise or if it was super busy. So my husband asked if the reception was being held here at the hotel or elsewhere. The lady at the front desk refused to answer the question and kept telling him just to ask the members of the wedding party. Needless to say, despite enjoying the restaurant at our last stay, we will not be giving them our business this trip thanks to the rude red head at the front desk.

We've stayed here on several occasions. Love that it has an indoor pool with comfortable water temperature. The outdoor jacuzzi is awesome (although you gotta be careful in the winter, when the deck can be somewhat slick, but they provide heaters that melt some of the ice off the deck).
Always nice to come back after a long day of having fun, and relaxing there.
Also, the fireplace in the lobby is very nice.

We've stayed here several times, and would definitely stay here again!

We stayed with three young children (7 and under) for 2 nights. We could not have been more comfortable. Our loft room had a nice living room below with couch and TV with a Queen bed above, and 2 twins off in a side area above. Fridge and Microwave in room. Good and easy to brew coffee in room. Very clean. Beds, pillows and down comforters were great. Kids had lots of fun in the pool (a bit too cool for me), and ran between the pool and the clean and hot hot tubs. Watched cross country skiiers on the snow covered golf course as we sat in the hot tubs. They had a craft table in the lobby and my boys loved it. Nice touch and welcoming for kids. Fire places in lobby and dining area were large, warm and inviting. Bar area was cozy with nice leather seats and couches. Dining room was decorated beautifully and the food was surprisingly excellent. Extensive wine list too. Service was perfect. Very easy and convenient to stay and eat in at the hotel. Breakfasts were hot, yummy and BIG. Try the potato pancakes as a side. We had a great stay and would definitely stay again our next time in Whitefish. Even my well traveled 5 star husband agreed - great spot. Good value and relaxing for all.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Loft room -had a view of the parking lot - but did not really bother us. maybe there...

After a really crazy New Years, we decided to extend our vacation by one day and stay in town at the Grouse Mountain Lodge.

Great price and the hotel was being renovated. We originally supposed to get a room with a King bed and they said Expedia messed up and only booked us 2 Double Bed which they didn't have ready until 4:30 pm that day. Not the biggest issue. The rooms were really large and spacious. Everything looked clean, minus the HUGE red wine stain on the bed side tables. Mehh...

The beds were EXTREMELY comfortable and I had a great sleep until 8:45 am when the cleaning staff had opened our door to do their morning clean. I found that fairly annoying, but I made the mistake of not putting the "do not disturb" tag on the door.

My biggest recommendation is to bring ear plugs. The cleaning staff were EXTREMELY loud that morning and the doors do not offer any barrier for sound.

That is my ONLY complaint.

Front desk was VERY friendly and helpful also!

Room Tip: "do not get a room near the elevator or near where the staff has their cleaning rooms"

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, but disappointed to read that the room you were in at Grouse Mountain Lodge was not quite as restful as you expected. It’s always gratifying to read that our employees are providing quality care for our guests. We have shared your comments with our staff in an effort to improve on our noise levels. Thank you for taking your time to leave us the valuable feedback.

We spent a very nice night there AFTER a LONG train ride. The rooms were Large with very adequate amenities, very comfortable, and great sleeping. The food was very good and the food service people were very friendly and accommodating. The front desk people were extra helpful and friendly. They offered to help with getting information about the area when the concierge was seemingly over her head in her job or unwillingness to help a group of people. The free Lodge shuttle ONLY takes you downtown so if you have no transportation of your own, you must hire an expensive taxi or do your own negotiating with Rafting Companies or Trail Riding stables to provide transportation to their places of business , as the concierge was not real helpful. Other than that person, the Lodge is a great place to stay, great surroundings, with plenty of beautiful scenery.

Hmm. . . Our concierge usually does a great job and is a great part of our team. We'll look into that one. Otherwise, it is great to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us and were able to get out and enjoy the area. We look forward to seeing you again.

We stayed here after purchasing a Groupon deal, which was a tremendous value at $120 for two nights including breakfast off the menu at the restaurant downstairs.

The check-in (and out) staff was friendly and helpful, and we found our room to be great, with a small fridge, many hooks in the entryway to hang coats, etc., a large and comfortable bed, robes, high quality toiletries (although I didn't see any hair conditioner?), and fantastic black-out shutters. We were there during sort of an off-season, so there weren't many other guests and noise was never an issue.

Breakfast at the restaurant was fantastic, served in a lodgey-looking great room with a very cozy wood-burning fireplace (speaking of which, there was another wood-burning fireplace near reception with couches on which to lounge). Service was great, efficient, and helpful.

We used both the outdoor hot tub and indoor pool. The outdoor hot tub was a treat because it was rather cold outside but who cares when you are engulfed in hot water.

Grouse Mountain was our home base for checking out Glacier NP, and after doing a few hikes it was sure nice to come back to such a cushy and relaxing retreat at the end of the day. We were also able to suss out the town of Whitefish, where the downtown area is located a short distance from Grouse Mountain.

We realize the Groupon made this a colossal value, but even if there were no specials going on we'd want to stay here again.

We just spent a weekend at Grouse Mountain Lodge, our favorite mountain hotel. The room was large, two very comfortable beds, two sinks and a nice setup for coffee as well as a view of the Whitefish Golf Course. Housekeeping could have done a better job as they left lots of smudges on the door handle plate inside and several strands of hair in the bathroom along with a bit of garbage.
However, the package we chose included breakfast which is always wonderful. Great selection and interesting items. Best place for breakfast is to be seated either near the grand fireplace or in the smaller dining room.
The except part of this is that the walls between the rooms are paper thin. Above us sounded like a tap dancing class and on one side we had a very "loving couple".
But on the other side we had a couple of very loud and rude girls who had just picked up a couple of guys at the bar. With total disregard to all the other guests they were loud in the room and even louder in the hallway. Several requests to be quiet ended with a call to the front desk and assurance it would be addressed which, thank goodness, it was.
There is a renovation taking place and we sincerely hope they redo the insulation. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
