I booked this hotel for a winter ski vacation gift for my husband. I booked the lakefront suite, and the price was extremely reasonable. Our room was spacious, had a nice kitchen, fireplace, balcony, and large bathroom.
The staff were generally polite and helpful (with the exception of one waitress who might have been having personal issues).
The one drawback was the supposed "top-ranked" on site Boat Club restaurant. The dinner entrees were awful. I had the sea bass special which was supposed to be with panko breading, and baked. It came out with thick breading and was obviously deep fried. My husband's salmon entree was extremely over-cooked. The salmon looked like it had been cooked in a food dehydrator. We did not send our meals back, as it was doubtful the "chef" had any culinary training.
The first breakfast we had was smothered with butter. I ordered the two eggs, with bacon and toast. Eggs over-easy. There was so much butter on my eggs that I only ate one of them. My husband's coffee had a bunch of grounds in it, and at the second breakfast our meals took more than 30 minutes to arrive. It also took 15 minutes to receive coffee, and we ended up asking the hostess if we could have coffee.
For skiers, the resort has a shuttle that makes multiple trips to/from Whitefish Ski Resort. This is helpful due to crowded parking, and long hike from the parking lots to the base lodge. The hotel will also store your ski equipment for you and have it ready on your departure to the mountain.
