“Lovely morning start”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Packed with info and exhibits, it is a fun insightful lesson into the history of the area. Kid will appreciate the staged scenes with life sized stuffed wildlife. This little gem is a great start to a day of driving and sitting.

“All That And Old Snaggletooth, Too.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

This museum is located in the West Yellowstone railroad depot at the intersection where most visitors turn to enter the west gate of the park. Its focus is on the history of Yellowstone tourism in general and specifically transportation, including stagecoaches, trains, planes, and early motorized vehicles associated with the area. There are several films with interesting recollections from past employees and visitors. The highlight for me was the mortal remains of Old Snaggletooth, said to have been one of the best-known and most recognizable bears in Yellowstone history. Admission is only six dollars for adults, with one dollar off for seniors 60+. We hadn't heard of this place until we saw it, but at that price -- and less for kids, of course -- it is probably the best value in West Yellowstone.

“A bit of everything here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

The park history in a nutshell. Park was really started for the enjoyment of the elite. It was such a challenge to get there with limited transportation only the rich could afford the experience. Film shown about the earthquake of 1959 and survivor interviews, chilling. yes, I recommend the museum.
PS: If the doors are open to the Dinning Hall next door - go in there! We were able to sneak in, WOW a beautiful venue for weddings, parties etc. I've NEVER seen such a BIG fireplace, sorry Yosemite. Shame that isn't part of the Museum tour.

“Excellent historical perspective”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

This was a terrific museum that gave one a great perspective of the old Yellowstone and the role that the railroad played in its' development. There were several rooms with historical artifacts, films, and information about the early days of Yellowstone Park.
