“nice place to stay”

Very clean and really ideal location to enter Yellowstone park from the West Entrance
Breakfast was good , must try the pancakes. The price was a little pricey but that does go with the area .. Would stay here again

We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us last month. Thanks for submitting your review. Over the last few years September visitation has grown to be about equal to June and lodging rates in the Yellowstone area have gown accordingly but still not nearly as high as the peak season of July and August. May and October are now the best value months for Yellowstone visits as the three million visitors every year just can't all fit into peak summer months. Luckily we have had extremely good autumn weather over the last few years so the season has expanded to accommodate the increase in visitors. If you've never been to Yellowstone in winter, its a fantastic experience and an absolute bargain. We highly recommend everyone who has ever wanted to ride a snowmobile to visit Yellowstone in winter. Many people consider West Yellowstone the snowmobile capital of the world.

I stayed at this hotel during a recent 3 day visit to Yellowstone National Park. Located next to McDonald's, the hotel is a short walk to shops and restaurants, and is on the main road of West Yellowstone town
Room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the free wifi was fine on the iPad/iphone.
Breakfast was included - the pancakes from the machine were not to my liking, but seemed popular with other guests. Cereals & flavoured yoghurt, bagels, fruit juice and tea/coffee. A few good places in town to eat - I particularly enjoyed the Spanish tapas restaurant.
Yellowstone National Park west entrance is less than 5 minutes drive away.

Thank you for choosing our hotel on your recent trip from so far away and thanks for taking the time to submit a review of your stay. We're glad that you enjoyed your visit. Just to be accurate so that other folks aren't confused, we need to clarify that we don't serve yogurt in our continental breakfast. Since it's perishable, requires refrigeration equipment and careful date code monitoring to be served safely, it is currently restricted from the items allowed by the county health code for hotels without a restaurant license. The state and county have very clear regulations on what hotels without a restaurant on site may serve to their guests. Since we may not cook fresh pancakes on a grill like a restaurant, the pancake machine does a great job of providing that breakfast option within the approved guidelines. You might be interested to know that it was actually invented by one of your countrymen in Australia and is now patented all over the world.

The first time we stayed here was October 2011, and came back in October 2012. We were visiting Yellowstone and this is a nice location in a quaint town. The room was clean and very comfortable. The theme was "woodsy" and "cabin-like". It's quiet and we have had no issues staying there. Staff is pleasant and more than willing to recommend local restaurants for dining. The only drawback for us personally is that there isn't a fitness room. They do have a pool but we didn't utilize. They offer a continental breakfast as well in their dining room area. Yellowstone might be a yearly trip for us and when we do go, this will be where we stay.

Thanks for taking the time to submit a review. We're very happy to hear that you returned to stay with us a second time and may make this an annual event. We are currently working with the local Chamber of Commerce on the concept of creating a cooperative loyalty program for the entire town of West Yellowstone for those folks like yourself who may become frequent return visitors to West Yellowstone. We hope it will take root and become reality by the time you return. Since you mentioned that a fitness room is an amenity that you would enjoy we would like to mention that our company also owns the Clubhouse Inn next door adjacent to our building that does have a fitness room instead of the dry sauna that we have. Our guests are welcome to use their fitness room upon request simply by showing their room key from here to the front desk for access. They are only open from mid May until mid October so if your visits are prior to mid October that might be helpful for you. As much as we would love to keep you here, you might might want to check their web site to take a look at their facility and rooms as well as the dates they will be open next year in case you would rather reserve a room their closer to the fitness area. Both Kelly and Clubhouse should have our new professional photos posted on our web sites within the next few weeks so you can get a timely an accurate view of everything both properties have to offer to compare. We look forward to seeing you again next year at one of our properties.

We had a good stay in this hotel. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. We had a king suite, plenty of room to do what you like.

The indoor pool and hot tub was welcome after a long day in Yellowstone.

Everything worked. Everything was clean and fresh.

The pancake machine is great. I want one at home.

Room Tip: Ask for a king suite with a large jetted tub. Well worth it.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to submit a review of your recent stay. We're very glad to hear that you enjoyed our Jacuzzi Suite and our pancake machine. What a strange coincidence that the previous reviewer who stayed with us a year ago just submitted a review this week with exactly the opposite opinion of both! That's the great thing about TripAdvisor and why we are so proud to have more reviews than any other hotel in the Yellowstone area. By taking the time to review the opinions of a wide variety of former guests, new visitors can make their own well informed decisions on how well our hotel might match their particular lifestyle, budget or their family's needs. We appreciate all of our guests who take the time to let us and other potential guests know about their own unique experience especially when they are current and timely. Thank you. We hope to see you again on your next trip to Yellowstone.

On a recent cross-country road trip, the highlight of our trip was going to be Yellowstone. And Yellowstone itself was everything we hoped it would be! We also decided to splurge the most on our night following Yellowstone. Unfortunately, we booked a little late and were going at prime time, so I chose what I thought would be our best bet. We chose the whirlpool suite and couldn't wait to warm in in a luxurious bubble bath after a day of exploring Yellowstone... that is until we actually saw the "whirlpool suite."

Upon driving up, the lobby of the hotel looked no better than the lobby of a Super 8. We checked into our room, and it certainly had a bit of Montana Lodge charm... then we saw the bathroom. It literally looked like a cheap bathtub had been put in the bathroom of a gas station. The lighting was horrible, was small... there was nothing enjoyable about it. There was NO WAY I was soaking in that tub. So we were definitely super disappointed by that, but didn't let it ruin our stay. The rest of the room was plenty comfortable for our night there.

The other huge disappointment was the breakfast. Now, I know that one should never get excited over an included continental breakfast, but this was potentially the worse I have ever seen. They had this weird pancake machine (there is something very unappealing about watching a pancake come off of a conveyer belt and flop onto my plate like a dead fish) and a chafing dish of preformed "omelets" which had an odd fluorescent yellow hue and shiny finish. I could barely stomach the breakfast.

Next time I go to Yellowstone I will definitely book far in advance so I can stay somewhere else. We paid for for this hotel than any other hotel on our trip, and this was by far our least favorite.

Room Tip: Do NOT splurge for the whirlpool suite.

Thank you for submitting a review of your stay with us. We are a bit confused by the details you mention in the review so we're not sure exactly when you were actually here or how to respond appropriately. Your review states that it was a recent cross country trip but at the bottom of the review it states the visit was November of 2011 so not sure if it was two visits or one. You also mentioned that it was peak season and that Yellowstone was everything that you had hoped it would be while you were here. Since November is actually one of our slowest seasons of the year when the roads into Yellowstone Park are closed, we're even more confused. We wouldn't want to confuse any potential visitor reading these reviews to plan a trip in November expecting to visit the park and be disappointed.

In any case, we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed in our hotel and especially our Jacuzzi suite, the omelets we served in our continental breakfast and our pancake machine. Since we don not have a restaurant on site, by law, we are not allowed to serve anything beyond a "continental" breakfast, yet we have pushed the limits and experimented with a few heat and serve meat and egg items that are safe to serve without a restaurant license in an attempt to offer additional protein during peak seasons. We stopped our test of the omelets over a year ago and started testing precooked frozen scrambled eggs and sausage this year. Obviously nothing precooked and frozen are ever as good as fresh cooked raw meat and eggs but they are offered for variety in addition to the regular "continental" breakfast items at no additional charge. Based on the 20 pounds per day that we go through we assume that the majority of our guests appreciate the effort but certainly not everyone agrees.

Our patented pancake machine was created to deliver a freshly mixed and grilled hot pancake from a Teflon coated conveyor belt at the push of a button. It was designed to be safe and sanitary for hotel use and has had outstanding reviews from most of our guests. We're sorry to hear that you felt that the sanitary delivery method was such a negative experience. Yours is the first complaint we can recall. We have consistently been going through thousands of pancakes every month for the last two years since we began using this machine.

Our goal is to insure that every visitor to West Yellowstone enjoys their stay to the best of our ability whether they stay with us or not. We wish you had told us that you were not happy with your room while you were here so that we would have had the opportunity to move you to a room that might have suited your needs better or helped you find accommodations elsewhere. We gladly show our rooms to any guest before check in upon request so that they can be sure that they have the best room type to fit their needs. Beyond that, our policy is that any time any guest is not happy with our hotel for any reason, we will gladly check them out immediately with no penalty for early cancellation and help them find accommodations elsewhere that better fits their needs.

We also list current images on our web site of every room type including 360 degree panoramic views to help our potential guests see exactly what options we offer at what rates for every season. Since we just added new lodge style cedar log furniture to every room this spring and done some remodeling work in our common areas we have deleted most of the old professional room photos and replaced them with some temporary shots until we could have new photos taken. We will have our new professional images of all of our rooms on all web sites very soon- including a picture of the Jacuzzi tub in the suites. We do that so that all potential visitors can see every room type before they make a reservation to prevent any surprises or disappointment. We highly recommend that every visitor to the Yellowstone area use these TripAdvisor reviews to compare honest and unbiased opinions of actual guests and then visit hotel web sites to compare the images, amenities and rates before making their choice of lodging. We appreciate that you took the time to add your opinions to our numerous reviews and hope that if you should return to visit Yellowstone that you give us a look to see all of our recent changes and consider giving us another chance.

We (a group of four) stayed at Kelly Inn for three nights in May and we really enjoyed our stay. The room, although a little small for four people, was clean and well kept. The management was nice and made sure they fulfilled our requests. We used the west entrance to get to the park everyday and on our return (which would be around sunset), we saw grizzly, wolves, mule deer and various other animals which we would've missed if we had stayed in the park.

Have you ever seen a pancake machine? Me either! Or a special remote control that does not have any nooks to get gross stuff caught in? It is not often that I see new things that are fantastic in hotels. The property is not only well taken care of but had great updated beds, lots of pillows and plenty of space. We choose a room on the bottom floor with an inside and outside entrance. Perfect for unpacking all the family stuff then jetting down the inside hall to the pool in our suits. The staff was helpful and breakfast was good. The pool is a must when we travel and this was the warmest so far in the middle of October. So happy we stayed and we would return. Oh, did I mention they are in walking distance to everything downtown. No need to even get in the car except to go see some geysers and wildlife.

Room Tip: The bottom floor with two doors was great for us. They do also have rooms with two beds and a sleep...

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We're very glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit and took the time to experience our huge pool room. We keep our pool at about 90 degrees all year because the little ones often enjoy their evening time in the pool as much or more than their day time in the park. Our hot tub stays around 102 degrees for the adults who need to work out the kinks and our dry sauna is available for all of those who want a quick way to cure an autumn or winter chill. We hope to see you again on your next adventure to Yellowstone.
